:rolleyes1

This is what I heard all day at my job.... :sad1:

My co worker WARNED us she would be bringing her adorable little 7 month old up to the office this week because her daycare lady was going on vacation. I work in a studio for a cable station so it's VERY laid back.

The first few mins was fine then....

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! :cutie:

I guess little Nate didn't like the programming!

After about 6 hours of this on and off she came to my door absolutely exasperated and asked if I would hold him until she got some of his stuff in the car. I took ahold of little fussy and put him in front of my monitor. I pulled up Nick.com and Spongebob Squarepants bowling.

You know the look men get on their faces when the GAME is on? Sort of slack jawed and stupified?

Well this is the look little Nate got when we celebrated a few minutes of well deserved SILENCE in the office!! :cool1:

The mother returned and wondered what I did. She had told me before that she has NO TVs in her home. I guess the little guy thought this was a treat! popcorn::

At least it took the ringing out of our ears for a minute. I just can't WAIT until tomorrow...

wow i cant believe they let her bring him to work

Thats what I was thinking. I can understand on an emergency, but the whole week when she knew her daycare provider would be on vacation? Lucky she works for a place thats so understanding. Unlucky for you. lol

Good luck with the rest of the week and little Nate. Earplugs, think about it.

That is what TV is for...for babysitting when the nanny can't! Good thinking. :thumbsup2

Good luck with the rest of the week.

Tuesday......

he's BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

I say if they allow babies at work, surely they should cut you a break and allow VODKA!!!

Sounds like you're gonna need it.

My first thought was "she works for a cable station but has no TV's at home!!!"

I am TV addicted :happytv:

Hopefully the cutie will be quieter the rest of the week, he probably is tryng to tell his Mom that he wants a TV.

This is brilliant advice. :thumbsup2

Maybe the office can pool together enough $$ for one of those vibrating chairs? :confused3 (and the vodka...don't forget the vodka)

I cannot believe ANY employer would allow this, no matter how laid back.

Occasionally we have someone who needs to bring their child in for an hour or two for an emergency type basis. That is usually annoying because the young children cry and yell.

I just can't imagine doing this for the week. She needs to take leave.

I can't say anything because I worked for radio for 22 years and NEVER had one at home.... burnt out I guess....

Mushy I don't drink but I just might be pushed to it by Friday....

Christine, this woman's direct boss works from home so she doesn't have a say in it. No one's complaining to her but everyone's walking around

At least I have YOU guys to complain to....

You might need to invest in some earplugs before tomorrow! Good luck!

Next year, find out when the nanny/daycare is taking vacation and schedule yours for the same time so you won't have to be there to listen.

I too am in shock that she's allowed to bring the baby to work for the whole week. Doesn't seem like much work can possibly get done.

Poor Robin, hope she doesn't make this a habit! :guilty: I swear ALL I heard last night at my store was kids WAILING...at NOTHING! :furious: Must have been the full moon....

I like the way you think! :lmao:

Poor little guy. It can't be fun for him either. His schedule is all screwed up.

Yes, you can't help but feel for him, he's in a packnplay in his mother's cubicle surrounded by strange people,... heck, I'd cry too!!

He really is adorable, I'm not mad at him I'm mad at his Mom for not making other plans! Especially since I'm the ONLY other mother in the area, we are SURROUNDED by 30 and 40 something women who have no children and cringe at the thought of it. They're sort of avoiding me because they figure I'm for this ... NOT!

There is one Dad in the area who comes by and plays with him every now and then. I still say we should have a TV and a Barney tape on playing over and over.... it worked for my kid and he's FINE! :goodvibes

I'm in the Atlanta area.... just curious what cable stn you work at.

And no...I'm not available to babysit.

Can you say portable DVD player? Is the Vodka for her or the baby? JUST KIDDING!!!!! You use Benadryl on kids. JK!!!!!!!

Unf'inbelieveable! What does this co-worker do when the daycare person is SICK or when he/she just can't be there?!?

A few ideas...
Maybe you can be sneaky about it. Call up this woman's direct boss about something(doesn't matter what!), but time the call for when Junior is bawling his eyes out. Make sure you have the phone's volume turned up and just *have* to set the phone down for a bit.

If this won't work, bring in a portable DVD/TV player & some kids' DVDs. Present them to the hassled mom. She'll protest, you'll say No I *insist*. I have several important phone calls to make today (make sure you mention the names & that they're people who matter to your business) and I simply cannot be interrupted by Junior. *OR* (always be truthful) so&so is coming in and the business *cannot* afford to have the meeting interrupted by Junior.

Good luck! (And please update the thread as the week progresses...I also like the idea of Vodka :cool1: or other adult beverages.)

agnes!

yeah, she really should have found another sitter or taken time off herself. She can't really be getting a whole lot done with him there.
And, YES, find the kid a tv or something to entertain him.
