I know - I was warned that Alaska was messing with flights.

Well, mine was messed with. I just noticed today.

My flight PDX-SNA is only changed by 20 minutes.

But the return flight is changed by 2+ hours.

My question : I already have Supershuttle reservations - paid for and everything. The flight there is not a big deal - there is not much of a time difference. But the return flight is quite a difference. Since they are already paid for (the transfers) is there a penalty for changes? Or would they waive any penalty because it was an airline change? Or should I suck it up and just arrive early to the airport?

Flights are not until March, and the rep at Alaska Airlines said that there may be more changes in the future, so I don't plan on calling Supershuttle until a week or so before our trip. But would love to know about the changes to a Supershuttle reservation if anyone has any info! (Yes, I know I could call, but I would feel dumb asking, as flights may change again...)

I don't think there are problems with changing things at all. Don't worry. :) I once had to change my SS reservation twice due to completely changed flights (the original plane couldn't get out so they put me on a different place going to a different place for the flight change), and then the second flight was either late or early, and they hardly even cared that I was letting them know, let alone that I was changing things.

Thank you!!

I just don't want to show up super early at the airport unless I will get charged a change fee.

I am not too keen on our return flight getting into PDX at 5pm. There is another flight that would leave a bit before our originally planned flight would leave, but I didn't want to push it. We will deal with it. (We have an almost 3-hour drive from the airport home)

From their site:

In some cities, you will find a SuperShuttle ticket counter inside the airport; in others, a member of our staff will be standing curbside to assist you. In either case, the process is simple:

1. Once you have your luggage, tell our representative the specific address where you are headed and provide them your confirmation number and/or last name.
2. Our representative will activate you in our system.

So they really don't sit and wait for you...and they are always around, so everyone's flexible.

Have you considered staying over in Portland and leaving the next morning? We're big fans of McMenamins and are considering leaving from PDX for a future trip, so we can stay at Edgefield or Kennedy School before and after the trip. :goodvibes

Kennedy school is soooo cool. Went there with friends last year and the atmosphere at night is absolutely amazing!

I wouldn't worry. Especially for your arrival. We we landed at SNA we were late and just walked right up to the van and they were taking walkups as well. They asked our names and still asked if we had prepaid...like five times.

Your return depending on where you are being picked up from you should call and let them know but wait a few days before you leave. :)

In August they were telling my mom they no longer take walk ups. That they now only take reservations. :confused3

they won't charge you a fee for changing the reservation either. It's not your fault the flights changed. When i called in August to add myself onto my moms existing return reservation. They had no problem changing it.

When I used Super Shuttle in Oct. '08, I was what you would call a walk -on. I think they would be making a bad business choice if they do in fact change the service to reservations only. There are 3 other van type shuttles in the same area so I always make sure I talk to the Super Shuttle escort. I find Super Shuttle drivers a bit more cautious. (Years ago I did get "TRICKED" into using one of the other van transport services. I thought we were going to crash. He was going 20 miles over the speed limit on the freeway I swore never again so I make sure the van says Super Shuttle.) If anyone hears for sure about Super Shuttle beging reservations only Please Post.

I was a walk-up at Super Shuttle earlier this month at SNA airport. They took me, but just warned me that there might be a wait for a van going to my area. We had about 6 different parties on the van - the wait wasn't long, but the trip took about an hour from the airport to my hotel at DLR. I just viewed it as a nice tour through several local neighborhoods (since I was next-to-last being dropped off) ;)

So it doesn't look like reservations are required, but I would still recommend them. FYI, if you try to make reservations through their website, you will have to pay in advance. But I believe you can call their 800 number and make reservations and have the option to pre-pay or not.

Yep. You should check out Edgefield, you're so close! We got married in Hillsboro, at another McMenamins property, Cornelius Pass Roadhouse, and stayed that night at Grand Lodge. We're mega-fans. :goodvibes

That's so weird they were telling your mom they didn't take walk-ups!

My mom is coming up to watch the dogs, so we are trying to keep it as short of a time as possible. I wish it were possible for us to overnight in Portland!

We are in Aberdeen, so SeaTac is actually closer by a half hour, but we prefer flying out of Portland because the airport is smaller and the parking is way more familiar to us.

Our flight leaves at (well, currently leaves at) 11:25am from Portland, so we will leave here around 4:30-5am-ish.

Staying overnight in Portland on the way back would be neato, but I doubt I could talk DH and DS into it. We will all be pretty anxious to get home, I am sure. We are currently expected to get into Portland for the return flight at 5pm.

Like everyone else has said I really think you'll be fine with the change. Super Shuttle was extremely accommodating to us on our recent trip. We were supposed to land in LGB but due to mechanical difficulties and a change of planes we missed the LGB curfew and had to land in LAX. We were going to be bussed to LGB to shuttle from there but DH called SS when we landed and they said to go ahead and just get on the shuttle at LAX, giving them our reservation info at the curb. It ended up being about $20 cheaper to use them out of LAX than LGB and there was still no fee. So if it worked in that case, I think you're in good shape for your own change.

Well, maybe next time! :goodvibes

Super shuttle requires reservations for smaller airports, like LGB. But not for SNA or LAX.

I just wanted to add that I love edgefield! It is less than ten mins from here :)

Hey, I am in Aberdeen as well. I looked at your old posts and saw that we were both in DL over spring break in March at the same time. Hello neighbor!
