W9? Individual proprietor?

Trying to fill out closing docs for direct sale. Has anyone done this? DocuSign is making us fill out this w9. Should we hit individual proprietor? I feel like this entire document doesn’t even apply to us.

Direct sale…so you are selling back directly to Disney or are you purchasing?

You would check 3a box 1 if you are not a company. IRS rules for a real estate transaction require a purchaser complete the form so that the seller can report the purchase to the IRS.

I bought 2 direct contracts in the last 6 months, one at Riviera and one at Poly, I don’t remember filling out this form at all.

Are you purchasing in just your name? If so , I would call. There is a phone number to call to talk to contracts dept, it should be at the bottom of your email. I would call them. I did not have this form and I sold points back to Disney.

Yes I did magical beginnings and sold back my first year of points.

Look this is pretty simple. It’s not “individual proprietor” it’s individual / proprietor”. You file as an individual…. case closed.

I did call Disney late yesterday and they said to check individual.

I did not do magical beginnings, but maybe that is why the document is there?

In fairness to OP, I think the form is set out weirdly - it should say individual, sole proprietor, or single-member LLC. The slash between individual and sole proprietor combined with the "or" later sets up a strange situation.
