We have a standard room in wilderness lodge. We stayed at POR our last trip but never anything like this. My family think we are going back to POR so it is a huge surprise. What are the standard rooms like and do they have any kind of view? What should I expect from a standard room? I have two sons that are 6 & 8. Would the bunk beds be suitable for them? I want this to be a vacation that they will remember forever! Should I upgrade? If so, should I go with courtyard or pool view? Please help, our trip is the last week of August.

we had a standard room, when we got there I thought oh great, a view of the parking lot...had a nice view of the garbage dumpsters, and the smoke house they smoke the meat in for meals. But later that night, to my delight, we had a super view of the fireworks. We were perfectly satisfied with the standard view for no more time than we spent in the room.

From reports on here the last week or so, the bunk beds are no longer available with standard view rooms. I hear they can be hard to come by. Good luck. :flower:

If you want bunk beds you will have to upgrade, they no longer have them in standard room. Something they recently changed. I wouldn't worry about paying the extra for a view unless you are going to be looking out the window much, there's enough to see around the resort just walking around!

We'll also be at the WL the last week in August, and I have a standard room booked.

Our family has always viewed a hotel room as a place to be at night, after dark, when its time to go to sleep. I simply can't see paying extra for a view out the window. I've always felt that if I wanted to look at something nice, I'll just grab a book and go someplace else.

We booked a standard view for this past weekend but were up-graded to a woods view. While I know I seldom looked out my window, I really don't think I would have been happy paying that much money to look out on a noisy driveway or parking lot. If you're lucky enough to be in the standard view rooms on the bus stop side of the building, the view wouldn't be too awaful; but who wants to look at dumpster on vacation??? (view of most standard view rooms)
