W.I.S.H.-Wide Monday Mixer!

Favorite restaurant and meal:
Restaurant has to be Whispering Canyon. I know, not very romantic - but so much fun!!!

Meal: Lobster on DCL/Lumieres - LOVE that the waiter takes it out of the shell. Yummmm!!

What are your favorite Disney restaurants and why? What's your favorite meal there?

#1 - Chef Mickey's - It just doesn't feel like a complete trip without going there. It has become a family tradition. We did not go this past summer when we were there and I think we all missed it. We always go for the late breakfast/brunch reservation.

#2 - Le Cellier - Fabulous food...loved the steak!

#3 - Whispering Canyon Cafe - The food is not that great so I don't have a favorite meal but the atmosphere and fun can't be beat!

#4 - Ohana's - We have to go with the dinner there because the bread pudding dessert is to die for!

and finally...#5 - On the Disney cruise...Palo! OMG - anything we have had was incredible but the brunch is unbelievable! I am already dreaming about it and we don't go until the summer of 2011!

This thread is making me hungry!

Breakfast - Kona Cafe - Macadamia nut pancakes with a pressed pot of coffee
Lunch - Beaches and Cream - Bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and a sundae for dessert
Snacks - Beignets from Port Orleans, Dole Whips, tie dyed cheesecake from Pop, pastries from the bakery in France
Dinner - Yachtsman, I love their bernaise sauce... yummy! And the sushi from California Grill is fantastic too!!

I guess I know why I run :cutie::laughing:

We don't really eat restaurant breakfast outside of character meals - love Ohana and Chef Mickey.

CS favorites are Flame Tree, Columbia Harbor House and the place in Morocco.

Dinner - Jiko, Le Cellier, Narcoossee.

Hands down the best Disney meals I've ever had are at Palo - brunch and dinner. Everyone raves about the chocolate souffle, but I still dream about the pana cotta.

I have to go with Citricos for TS. I absolutely loved it.
Wolfgang Puck Express for CS. Best use of dining credits yet.
Crystal Palace for characters. Love my Eeyore!

I have been completely missing all the fun on this thread. But I'll play this week.

I absolutely love Earl of Sandwich. I can't have a trip without an All American.

Recently I started a love fest with Flame Tree BBQ and the Ribs there.

And I love love love the Kona Cafe and the Tonga Toast.

I'm dieting and now very hungry thinking about all this delicious food. Guess I'll go drink some water and eat some berries til this passes.

My favorite restaurant is Boma (dinner). There isn't a specific meal there since it is a buffet but I love the flavored hummus and the couscous dishes.

Close runners up are The Wave and Kona (lunch). At The Wave I love the Tuna Steak (when it is the fish of the day) and the black bean soup. At Kona I love the Asian Noodle Bowl which is only on the lunch menu.

I don't have a place that I "have to go" when I'm there--well, other than getting a Dole Whip! And I must admit I am growing rather fond of Team at the Grand Floridian (The Buckingham Palace-yum!), served with a rose.

I think I've gotten to the point where the company is a bigger part of the meal than the food. IMO, the "Fine Dining" restaurants at Disney have tended to homogenize their menus somewhat over the last 5+ years or so (e.g, Menu= 1 fish entree, 1 chicken entree, 1 pork entree, etc, prepared somewhat a la mode of the restaurant theme). But when I go with my kids, and my sister and her family, it is just the idea of us together enjoying a nice meal that we didn't have to prepare which is nice.

That being said, we have enjoyed Dinner at Citricos, California Grill. Had a nice breakfast at The Wave. For family fun, you can't beat Prime Time Cafe or even Whispering Canyon. Another cliched, but good items---Cheddar Cheese soup at Le Cellier. And my dinner at Sanaa was good too.

I enjoyed Boma, and should go back, but my problem is I don't eat a lot of food at any given meal, and when I go to a buffet, I feel like I can never try all the yummy, and hopefully unique things.

Hey, just cause I don't have a standout favorite doesn't mean I don't enjoy eating out there!

Maura

I've got several favorites:

Victoria & Albert's - great service and wonderful wine
Kimono's - love the atmosphere and the food
Ghirardelli - who can resist ice cream?
The tequila bar at Downtown Disney - who can resist tequila?

While I have visited WDW much more often than Universal, the one restaurant that I will plan a trip around is Tchoup Chop at RPR. Love the shrimp chips they serve when you first sit down and gotta end the meal with Emeril's banana cream pie.

My answer to this changes everytime someone asks. :upsidedow

1. Crystal OPalace for the "atmosphere". ;)
2. The Plaza for thei rnormal food adn Chocolate PB Shakes!
3. Boma for breakfast - Love teh egg dish with feta!

Mmmmm. Disney Restaurants. Mmmmm.

Happy Monday again everyone! This week's question:

Do you have any pets? Tell us about your pets, past, present or imaginary!

I have always been a cat person, but I like dogs too. Growing up, we also had some guinea pigs and a couple of hamsters including poor little Dust who saved all of us when she succumbed to the carbon monoxide that was coming into the house because of an old, broken chimney on the furnace. Somehow my mom figured it out from that and everyone else was OK, though we'd been feeling the low-grade effects for a few days.

Current pets: Skipton Von Dipton, AKA Skippy the wonderdog, Nova the attack cat, Phineas Nigellus Blacklips - Loving cat with gray stripes and much skittishness & his sister Princess Luna "Lovegood" Muffinhead - also skittish when she's not comfortable. We also have Felicia the Crabby - a brown and white tabby cat who sounds crabby even when she's happy. Finally, we have Stone, the Western Painted turtle. He doesn't have a lot of personality, but he lives in our house and we feed him.

Corinna - You have the best pet names. I particularly love Phineaus Nigellus and Luna Lovegood Muffinhead.

I have a dog. Her name is Princess Olivia. She's a puggle (half pug and half beagle) and is in my signature (Hi Livvy!). She's 3 1/2. She's the center of my universe. She's a big mushy lover. Loves being pet and being the center of attention. I seriously miss her while I'm here at work during the day.

Love these little topics.

Pets! I love talking about pets almost as much as talking Disney!

It's been over 5 years since we adopted Coco from the Golden Retriever Rescue of Houston. Her photo is in my signature. This photo is from just before we adopted her. Coco is mostly "my dog". She is about 9.5 years old, but still runs and plays hard. She especially likes jumping over the baby gate which is meant to keep the other dogs in specific parts of the house.

We also adopted a poodle/Jack Russel mix named Dru (pronounced like Drew, named by my youngest during a trying teen period :confused3). He is prone to being generally confused, protective of my wife and jealous of the other bigger dogs. Dru started as my youngest daughter's dog and is now mostly "my wife's dog". Dru is about 4years old.

Jack is a German Shepard mix and is most definitely my youngest daughter's dog. He is almost 6 months old and they are currently going through obedience classes together. (Hopefully, my DD can learn a thing or two from obedience school :lmao: !)

Kelsey is a Rag Doll cat with facial markings that are just a bit off center. She's around 11 years old and spends much time resting and avoiding the dogs. Kelsey was closer to the start of my youngest DD's string of pets that includes two of the dogs above.

I have two cats. Bear with me:

1) Oreo Cookie, the Queen Cookie, the boss, the Queen, The Most-Beautiful-Cookie-Kitty-In-The-World (yes, she insists on being called this no less than 100 times per day), o-o-o Ice Cold Milk and an Oreo Cookie.

2) Senorita, the Snuggle Bug, Snugglicious, Snuggluffagus, Bossy McBossy (she has trained me to give her treats once I hop out of the shower), Broken Kitty, Kissy Kitty, The Princess, Baby Doll, Sugar Pie

Ok, I could probably keep going with their names, but I'll stop there. Oreo and Senorita are my babies! They are both rescue kitties. I don't know what I'd do without them.

My DH grew up with dogs and had no desire to have one. The kids were scared of dogs---at first---but then decided they would like to have one. Still no budging by DH. Finally, when my son turned 15, my DH caved. We went shelter-dog hunting and came home with Buddy, who is a Lab mix.

Buddy is a wonderful. terrible dog. All at the same time. He will eat anything, and spends a lot of time in the kitchen counter surfing He has mastered a "jump-reach" technique that allows him to get at nearly everything there. ( The only safe place for anything is on top of the toaster oven).

He plays a mean game of "catch me if you can" by running circles around the first floor (darn the open floor plan and lack of doors) with whatever he has stolen that he's not supposed to have!

He is untrustworthy let outside because he will get a gleam in his eye and dash out of the yard to do his own track meet running through the local yards.

Oh, and he has this thing about other dogs on leashes--gets all crazy when he sees dogs on leashes.

And did I mention he sheds?

BUT.....he will jump up on the couch and snuggle with me, especially when he's tired.

He has a beautiful face and cute freckles on his nose.

He follows me around as though I am the most important person in the world. And he always is excited to see me when I come home.

He doesn't judge me, makes no overwhelming demands on my time (other than feeding and regular exercise) and I love him to pieces.

He is my Stitch--often with a high "badness quotient", but in the end, just wants to be part of the family.

I have one pet, a kitty, Cosette, who will be two in June. She's the sweetest little girl, but VERY, very active. She loves sitting in the bathtub, chasing string and sitting in boxes. :)

No pets for me. Growing up we had a little poodle name Muffin. Once I have a family I wouldn't mind getting a dog but I am not home enough to have one now. I also like picking up and heading out of town for the weekend from time to time (usually to run of course) which is much harder to do when you have a living creature depending on you for food and water.

I like dogs and cats but am partial to cats. Right now we have 2. Added the second about a month ago. Both are in my sig.

Tinkerbell is the gray and white one. She is the tempermental and wants attention only on her terms. She is only 4.5 but has cost us $$ in medical bills. She has asthma and bad knees. She had surgery last fall for luxating patella's and is still shaved from the waist down-- she looks like she is wearing pants. :lmao:

Simba is solid white. He was a stray that one of DH's coworkers was trying to find a home for. The vet thinks he's about a year old but plays like a little kitten. He is so funny to watch. He came in and made himself at home from day one.

It has been a challenge introducing a new adolescent cat to the household. They 2 are still trying to decide which one is going to be the alpha. :sad2:

We also have Felicia the Crabby - a brown and white tabby cat who sounds crabby even when she's happy.

Corinna your post made me laugh, especially the above part. :rotfl: I'm a cat person, so I get it.

No pets for me. Growing up we had a little poodle name Muffin. Once I have a family I wouldn't mind getting a dog but I am not home enough to have one now. Ha, we also had a little dog named Muffin when I was a child. She was a west highland white terrier.

We used to have several cats, I adore cats!! We don't have any pets right now though. Partly due to allergies, partly due to having enough on my plate already, and partly due to the same reasons Frank listed. We don't want to worry about pet care while we're away. My boys really want a pet though. So MAYBE we will get a hamster at some point...
