We have stayed at BWV several times but my kids would like to try Wilderness Lodge Villas I would like to know if there are any disadvantages to staying at WLV. Is transportation from here better or worse than BWV. What location is recommended if we stay at WLV. Thanks for your help.

We have stayed at VWL several times and are trying BWV next trip. :)

It is my understanding that transportation to and from MK is better from VWL than it is at BWV - I'm sure this is due to the proximity of WL to MK (short boat ride or bus ride). Honestly, we have always found the bus transportation to and from AK/EP/DHS to be fine at VWL. Of course, walking to Epcot and DHS can't be beat ... so I'm sure it will take you longer to get to those places from WL. Transportation to DTD from WL has always been horrible for us ... taking a MINIMUM of an hour every time we have tried.

As far as room location, it really doesn't matter much at VWL. VWL is not that big, so you will be a short walk from the elevators/busses no matter where your room is located. Views can vary ... I think most of the rooms are wood view, but there are some rooms with views of the quiet pool. We always request the side of the lodge facing the lake (although, you really can't see the lake) ... but this request has never been granted and our views have been fine. Once, we were above the dumpster, but we were high enough that it wasn't bothersome. Another time, our view was mostly of the covered walkway that connects the villas to the lodge. The other two times, we were basically just saw trees even though we were facing toward the road. I always ask for an upper floor facing the "lake" side ... we've been granted the upper floor request every year, just not the lake part.

We really like VWL ... it feels like we are a million miles from the parks. I'm curious to see what staying right in the middle of it all at BWV will be like!

I can't compare to BWV, but I can speak generally about VWL. Wait times at VWL or at the parks was low. The highest wait we ever had was around 20 minutes for a MK bus. Getting to DTD does take forever and I don't know why.

My big complaint is the amount of sharing, which I don't know if that happens at BWV too. For example, the AK bus also goes to Blizzard Beach and Grand Floridian. One morning we were standing on a packed AK/BB bus. We then had to go to Grand Floridian, and pack more people onto the bus. We stopped at Blizzard Beach and no one got off the bus. In all, it was probably a 45 minutes process to finally get to AK.

Overall though I have little to complain about VWL, and I hope you enjoy it if you end up there! :)
