One more quick question about the VWL. What is actually in the Villas building besides the rooms? Is there any food area service? Do you have to go to the main lodge for everything? Also, is room service available like it is at the boardwalk?

Yes, room service is available. I believe the only other thing in there is "Sturdy Branches" exercise room, and the "Iron Spike" area.

All of the above are correct, but I would add the 'Quiet Pool'. But I don't want to leave this post the impression that the food amentities are 'way over yonder at the WL', it is a short stroll to the lobby of the Wl. If you use the main VWL enertance, the walkway is a nice wooden, and wooden covered boardwalk. Personally, I love the atmosphere at VWL.

It is no further to the dining areas at WL from VWL than it is to the restaurants on the Boardwalk from BWV or from the BCV to the restaurants at BC. OKW has some buildings close to Olivia's and many farther away.

VB guests have a similar walk to Sonja's and Shutters and HH guests have to walk about 75 yards across a bridge to the closest restaurant.

This is certainly one aspect of all DVC resorts which is consistent. Most resort guests will have to walk a short ways to enjoy a meal outside of their room while staying at any DVC resort.

Enjoy!

You should look at the entrances/exits at the back side of the building too. If you are going to the pool area, the snack bar or the boats (rental and ferry to MK), you might be closer off walking thru the Spike Room area and coming out a back door. There are nice wide, paved pathways. It may be a lot quicker (and maybe closer too) to walk outside rather than go thru the lobby area.

I agree with SUEM from MN, the back way offers a nice morning stroll, especially walking past the geyser !! I did that every morning during our stay. Makes it quite unique.....

the general store/gift shop is closer to the VWL than to some of the rooms in WL so is the arcade and the Club's Den (the childcare center) - so everything is very convience - I actually think the restuarant - Whispering Canyon Cafe is pretty close too.

STOP STOP STOP!!!!:)
All this talk of nice walks past this and that is making me SOOOOO homesick for VWL:(
That is so much one of my simple pleasures of staying there......
gosh I want to be back there right now:(

You guys have me so exited now, not that I wasn't before. We stayed at the WL for our 10th wedding anniv and I fell in love with it!!!.

Has anyone used the Cub'sDen? We plan to for at least one evening this go around since no grandparents will be with us (what are we thinking????LOL). We have two 11 year olds and one 5 year old ~ at the time of our vacation). The 11's are boys, but very easy going, good kids, the soon to be 5 year old is a bit more active (putting it nicely). What do they have available for the kids. I noticed the cut off is 12. Are they well supervised? I imagine they have to be, but I"m being a bit of a nervous Nelly here.
