My husband and I are almost sorry we added on points at VWL. I have read alot of negative comments about trans to parks from there. Also I was very sorry to se there is no longer a character breakfast. How does everyone else feel about this resort. I will say it is beautiful!

We stayed at the lodge (not the DVC part) in Feburary and had no transportation problems. Buses or boats always came within 10 minutes. The Contemporary is a short boat ride away for the Character Breakfast - although we went to Ohana's (I think the only WDW DVC resort doing character breakfasts currently is Beach Club - Olivia's breakfast is gone as well - and I don't think BW ever had one.)

Gina,

Let me be the first to tell you that we are THRILLED with our purchase at VWL. We bought last year sight unseen. After that purchase we also began reading posts about transportation issues from VWL and were apprehensive as to what we would find when we made our first visit home in January.

We had NO problems at all. The boats were very reliable. Never waited for longer that 5 minutes for a boat. Never waited longer that 10 minutes for a bus (and on the occasion where it was 10 minutes it was because we were being pokey on the way to the stop). And upon leaving parks, our bus was always there or was within 5 minutes!

As for no character meal, it really doesn't matter considering you can get to Chef Mickeys in a matter of minutes by boat (the best character dinner IMHO)...the Poly and GF in seconds by bus.

Its a great location (on the lagoon with the water pageant at night, surrey bikes to rent that can take you along a quiet little path to a petting farm, wonderfully quiet DVC pool that is just steps away from the busier lodge, etc....)

You made a good choice. Judge the transportation for yourself.

Laura

**Actually by the time this post reply actually went thru, I was the second to tell you it was a good choice. And I'm sure I won't be the last.

Hi, Love the WL and have also bought at VWL but, our first stay is not until September. Don't worry about the transportation. We have stayed in most of the Deluxe resorts and have always found the WL transportation to be fine. The boat ride to MK is lovely - especially on a really hot day and it is so convenient to take the boat to Contemporary for Chef Mickey's. We are planning to use the Contemp pool before going to Chef Mickey's for dinner.

As far as transportation goes, what is in the past is probably now academic. You have the boat to MK which is a pleasant and quick trip. In the past busses to other parks were shared with Poly and GF which could make the trip somewhat long. However, that is apparently changing. Reports have been coming in that the new bus routes are for WL and FW to share trips to the parks other than MK and that should be an improvement as WL will now share with only one other resort.

The only problem I ever had with transportation was true for both Wilderness & Boardwalk. It takes forever to get from or to Downtown Disney.

I can't imagine how you could regret buying VWL. I haven't stayed at OKW or BCV yet but I would go to VWL to vacation if you picked it up & dropped somewhere far away from Disney (as long as FW & the bay went with it). For me that is definitely not true of BWV and probably won't be true of BCV. I suspect OKW may give VWL a run for its money...I plan to find out Memorial Day!

We own at BW but just stayed at VWL last month. We LOVED it. Trasportation was no problem at all. We used buses for MGM and Ft. Wilderness. We used the boat for MK and several times transferred to the monorail for resort character meals.
