VWL Transportation--How is it?

I bought site unseen at the Villas of Wilderness Lodge about two months ago. It was not until after I purchased that I realized the resale market. My family and I love the Boardwalk area because of the ability to walk to two parks and other activities. I am starting to wonder if we made the wrong decision with VWL. How is the transportation to MGM & EPCOT? I have read many comments on the boat to MK (nice & relaxing) and the terribly long trips to Downtown Disney and the waterparks but what about the other parks? I made our first reservation for May (one bedroom) and was planning to get on the waiting list for BW in October. Any opinions or stories about transportation experiences would be appreciated. Thank you.

VWL bus transport is about the same as at any other WDW resort. If you can get a feel for how it works, it will work well. We always ask bus drivers for suggestions on ways to minimize any bus waits and their suggestions usually work well.

VWL, in the past, has combined bus service with Poly and GF.

Good Luck!

We stayed at WL paying cash last Thanksgiving and found no problems with the transportation. (We are DVC members at the BWV and are used to walking into Epcot and boating/walking to MGM.) We thought it was quicker to take a bus to TTC and catch the monorail to Epcot and if we had just missed a bus to MGM, we took the bus to TTC and got one from there as well. It seemed like the internal bus and the TTC bus came quicker than the other buses. We always used the boat to MK and loved it! I have never thought the bus service to DD runs "quickly" from ANY of the WDW resorts. We always rent a car and prefer to drive to DD for our shopping excursion. (I like having the car to put all my bags in while shopping! :D ) Considering that it was Thanksgiving, I did not think the wait times were bad at all for any of the parks. Just a note: we stayed at BWV in late May of this year, and felt like the bus service to and from MK was HORRIBLE! We waited for over 30 minutes for a bus from MK to BWV one evening about an hour before park closing. Buses for AS kept coming one after the other. My point - I think all resorts experience transportation woes from time to time. The VWL are beautiful so don't worry and enjoy yourself!

We were there 7/29-8/3 and the service wasn't too bad. The longest wait was for the Boone bus to FW (we ate at Trail's End...yummy) and that was about 20 min. Most bus came regularly at 10-15 minuet intervals. What can make the rides long is if your destination shares with GF and the Poly. We did use our car alot though, the valet service was super and of course free (except for tip of course) to DVC members. The VWL are wonderful. We've stayed at BWV, VWL, and OKW and VWL is my favorite. We missed the convenience of just walking to Epcot and MGM but the themeing at VWL is just beautiful.
