We are staying at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge in May. My parents have reserved an RV spot at the Fort Wilderness Campground. I am wondering what would probably be the best way to visit each other. I read their is a nature trail between the two but it's about a mile long so I'm not sure we would be walking that more than once or twice. I know there is a boat and busses. Is one better than another timewise? My parents are renting a golf cart too. Would they be able to use it on the nature path? I am guessing not. Thanks for any advice!

If your parents can get a site in a loop that is served by the Orange bus, 600, 800, 900, 1000, 1100, 1200 and 1300 then all you would need to do is board the FW bus at WL and ride it to their loop, they would ride the Orange Settlement bus to get to WL. They may want to include this request on their ressie(loop on Orange bus route). If they don't end up in one of those loops, then when the WL bus gets to FW at the Settlment stop, you can board the Yellow bus to their camping loop or have them meet you there in the GC. GC are not allowed on the nature trail.

Thank you. I have forwarded them your message. Hopefully they can get a good spot.

You could take the boat back and forth between the two locations.

Yes you can, but since the boat only goes one way in the morning(WL, FW and CR) and the other way in the afternoon(FW, WL, CR) that wouldn't be your fastest route.(I may have the routes backwards, but you get the idea). Also from the FW boat dock you will likely need an internal bus or the golf cart anyway. The bus stop at WL is just outside the Villas, so if efficiency is the concern the bus is the way to go. If you have time to kill and want to enjoy a nice boat ride, then take the boat.

I read recently here on the DIS(may have been on the Transportation forum)where the boat services have changed from FW and WL. It may be easier to reach FW now from WL than it was before by boat. If this is the case, you can catch a bus from the area near Trails End. At any rate, you will have somewhat of a wait by using boat or bus. But you will be in WDW, so no worries:goodvibes

My parents have told me they will be in the 1500-1800 loop, probably 1800 - they are bringing their cats and I guess some loops are "pet" loops. They do have a golf car they can meet us in. But it sounds like the bus is going to be the most efficient.

Thanks again everyone. I am learning so much by reading these boards. This is the first time my husband and kids and I will have gone to WDW and staying onsite as a family. We went once before but only for one day (we were driving through and stopped for just a few hours). We are going for 7 days and I am SO excited. The only other times I have gone to WDW and stayed at the resorts was for business conventions and most of the time was spent working. Yay!

So they will be on the Yellow bus line, that just means a transfer will be needed at Settlement. I know the 800 loop is a pet loop, but it is also a preffered loop(the biggest difference is preferred have Disney cable and are usually closer to Settlement or Meadows and of course the cost). There probably are full hook up pet loops on the Orange line, but I'm not sure which ones, maybe 900?
