VWL Sofa beds- Brutal or comfy??

Here's the lowdown.. We couldn't make it to WDW this year but not going to miss next year! Planning on another May trip. Anyway we are considering renting points and staying in a studio at VWL. We stayed at WL our last trips and renting points will give us the chance to try a Home Away from Home..

Now here's the problem... Went to Cape Cod this weekend and stayed at a timeshare w/a pullout sofa. It was brutally uncomfortable... I don't think I could take a week of it... It is a vacation after all.. It would probably be me and DS (5) on the couch (just like home!!) and DW and DD (7) in the comfy (??) bed...

Now before you ask...We probably aren't good candidates to rent a 1BR or 2BR.. Too much $$$/points for us IMO.. There's only 4 of us and we try to get out and about as much as possible while we're there so we don't need "extra" room per se....

So how do the pullouts rate at VWL?? Are they comfy or brutal??

I would suggest tht you switch to SSR, they have the best sofa beds.

sofa beds in BWV are extremely uncomfortable... Kinda like that show on Seinfeld when Elaine had to sleep on one in Florida at Jerry's parents home..
She had a bad back the whole time!

I suggest bringing an air mattress..

I hear that SSR sofa beds have a new foam type mattress, and those who've slept on them say they're pretty comfortable, so that maybe a good alternative home-away-from-home property for you.

If you're set on VWL, I would suggest that since brother and sister are so young, they share the sofa bed, and you and your DW take the queen bed. Besides, little ones like yours can sleep just about anywhere - I'm hoping for you anyway!

I spent a week on the VWL sofa bed just last month. I wouldn't call it "comfy" - but it was not that bad either. And, I should point out that I am pooh-sized and have a bad back, so given that -- I think you will be fine!

Go for it and enjoy!!

Thanks for the replies. DW loves WL so I think we'll stick with what works.

Interesting the differences between sofa beds. SSR being great to BWV being no so great.

I think we'll invest in an air mattress (just in case) and try to rent a studio in May for 5 days.

We may have to have sofa beds in our two bedroom at BCV (word of caution - not all two bedrooms have two beds in the second bedroom - only a third do! We are on a wiatlist for a real two bedroom) and MS told me they were basically the same make as the ones at BWV (we had one there in a GV and my brother who was on it at the time pulled the matress off and slept in the laundry room after day one - when I told MS this they said that almost everyone who stays at the BWV does this. I wouldn't imagine the VWL are any different. Also, going by the sofa to get tea in the morning, my grandmother tore her leg open from ankle to knee. Please be careful of little ones running throught the room! Sorry to share bad news.

The fold out sofas that we had at BWV was rather poor. They may work for a child or a very light adult. Bring your own inflatable mattress or mattriss pad.

I am not questioning anyones personal feelings, but why can't the 5 and 7 year old stay on the fold out together???? They are brother and sister? Sure once they get into their early teens I understand completely? But why put yourself and wife out, the kids would probaly find the sleeper much more comfortable than an adult. My son was sick while at SSR and I snuggled him to get him to sleep, I thought the thing was the most uncomfortable bed I had ever slept on!!! Another option is bringing one twin size aerobed, they come in great bags, we did this with 7 in a 2 bedroom, my 13 year old didn't want to deal with the kids ds age 4 and neice age 6, so she slept on the floor on the aerobed and it was great.

Do the one bedrooms have two beds or are they one bed and a sleeper sofa like the studios? Are the mattresses on the sleeper on the larger size? My two DS's are bunking together at SSR .

we were in a 1 bedroom at SSR, though the furniture is what I consider very good quality (thomasville), and I liked the way the sleeper was made, not your normal mattress all scrunched up in the bed, I just found it very uncomfortable!! Hard, and stiff! The one bedroom has a king or queen, I think King in the master and the sleeper in the living room. I think the sleeper was eithr a full or queen, def not a king, and I am more thinking on the side of a full.
