VWL Questions. 1st DVC stay

This will be our first time staying DVC at VWL. I love experiencing new resorts, but I always get anxious before we go! I was freaked out about staying at AKLV for our honeymoon!

I've stayed at WL as a child, and eaten there as an adult, but never stayed there! This year my parents and I combined our points and we're staying in a 2 bedroom lock-off.

Now for the questions....

Are the DVC rooms in a separate building?

What should I not miss at WL?

Is Roaring Fork's comparable to The Mara?

Any WL advice you can give! Anything I need to know!

Yes, the DVC rooms are a separate building ... but the building is a short walk from the WL lobby under a covered walkway, so I never found it to be isolated.

Roaring Forks is similar to Mara in that it is a quick service area. They have one area with burgers, fries, etc. and another area with fancier sandwiches and salads. They also have the desserts, fountain drinks, etc. I think the seating area is smaller than Mara.

Have fun at WL! It is pretty and relaxing.

Roaring Fork is good, but the burgers sometimes aren't. You'd be better off purchasing some of their hand-made sandwiches.

Ask to be the Flag Family upon arrival. Ask for the list of hidden Mickeys. Take the lodge tour if you have time. Walk down to the pier to view the Electrical Water Pageant. Visit the Carolwood Pacific room. Have a great time!

We've made a detour from MK to WL for the fresh salads that they make at Roaring Forks. The apple vinegarette is great and they let you pick from so many ingredients. They let you get it without chicken and charge less.

If they still have the morning "tour" of the lodge's lobby, that's something to do...I haven't been able to fit it in our schedule, but there's hopefully always a "next time."

I'm a FW fan, and always rent bikes and ride over to the Fort. Especially if it's a holiday time, you may find the campers beautifully decorated!
