We self park and we're very unhappy with the parking situation at Kidani. Is VWL similar or more like OKW?

The self park lot at VWL is across the main drive, it's a little bit of a walk. Construction will probably take up some spaces so their may be a shortage.

What's happening at Kidani?

All of the spots near our elevator were full so we had to truck our stuff. We have a little one so we had to take trips to keep her safe.

If spots not being open by the elevator at Kidani made you unhappy then you shall not like VWL. I'd compare the lot similarly to the lot at Jambo. It's a trek and no place to drop off close to the Villas. However, at any resort you can pull up front and allow bell service to take your luggage and deliver to your room. And if you did not care to park you can also use valet parking. There are either tips expected for bell service or daily parking fees for the valet. But if it's difficult or in your view unsafe paying a few dollars for tips to bell service is not much. Then just go park the car, head to the room and call to get your luggage.

Not sure why you wouldn't use bell services or drop off at elevator and than park.

Well went to Bell Service and instead of offering to help with our stuff he handed us a map with a star by our elevator. No biggie. We figure there is plenty of parking. There was one spot. (Well 2 but the guy in front of me got it) so we turned around and snatched it up fearful we wouldn't get a spot. it was our first stay at a wdw resort where you weren't allowed to park right by your room.

If parking close to your room is a priority, then , in general OKW and SSR are tops, and Kidani is a close 3rd and the rest of the DVC resorts go down hill from there

As others have pointed out, the parking for VWL is by the main reception and not close by. However, you can absolutely pull in at main reception and bell services will help you unload all of your stuff. In our case, I went to check us in (with the small person in tow) while my husband sat there out front - the folks at check in quickly printed out the parking pass and he was able to go park while we finished check in. Gave our room number to bell services and our bags and OL arrived just a few minutes after we did.

If you plan to use your car daily, it will
Not be convenient with a small child.

If close in parking is important to you don't ever stay at BWV. That's one place where you really need to drop off bags with bell services and then park the car.

BCV isn't bad. Same with GFV.

They both still have a walk that is probably comparable to what the OP had at Kidani. BLT would also be similar or better than BCV and VGF. BWV is quite good if you are standard view at the end of the wing and they aren't blocking that parking off for construction.

BLT would only be better if you could park right up front, but if you get stuck further out, it's not much better than JH or VWL. BCV is the best if you are on that end of the building and you are pretty close to the single elevator.

That seems to be saying the same thing about BCV because that would be a small percentage that will have a room right at that end and be able to park right close to the building. We haven't stayed there a lot but have never had that combo. If you're either in the center of the resort or one of the other two wings it's as much of a hike as anywhere else. BLT is where we've consistently had the shortest walk in part because it's a high rise so no long walks once you're in the building.

The "trekking stuff" issue is fixable at any resort (DVC or not) by just using bell services. It's well worth the tip money to us.

Kidani is one of the better resorts for parking close to your room. If there are no spots my husband lets us off and we go in and he parks the car and walks alone.

Bell services at Kidani always handle luggage so you shouldn't have to worry about that.

You are likely to be a lot further from your room at BW as it is a huge lot.
