I just recently booked two studios at my home resort of VWL for 10 days in May, 2013! This is going to be the first trip as a DVC member, having just purchased through resale late last year. Needless to say, I am very excited!

Having read a handful of posts on the forums, it seems as though the room "views" are rather limited, most having a view of woods, some getting a sneak peak of the pool, others the parking lot, and a select few, the dreaded "dumpster view" at the end of the hall. Some advice I've heard to ensure not getting the "dumpster view" is to request rooms as close to the elevator as possible. During my call to members services, I requested this and was told this should not be an issue. Should I have asked for anything else? Is it possible to request specific room numbers? If so, are there any rooms in particular that I should have requested? A view of the pool (even if wooded) would probably be preferable to a view of the parking lot.

We're not ones to spend a tremendous amount of time in the rooms or on the balconies anyway, but if I have the choice, I would prefer a view of the pool over the parking lot.

Thanks!

IMO a request of an area or view is better than a room number. The room assigner doesn't know why you requested the number and if it isn't available, where do they put you?

Here is a slide show that I made a few years ago. At the end is the view towards the parking lot.

There really aren't any parking lot views that I am aware of at VWL.

Disneynutz...that's a beautiful slide show. Made me very homesick, and the music was spot on. :thumbsup2

So am I in good shape having requested "close to the elevators", or should I be more specific in requesting "pool view"?

If you want a pool view, I would request a pool view and floor, ie "high floor" if you have a preference.

Close to the elevators has a better chance than "pool view" since there are only a few villas with a view of the quiet pool. And honestly, that view is pretty much gone now with the vegetation having grown up quite a bit around the pool.

Close to the elevators should do the trick for you, I'd think.

We have stayed at VWL many times, and have never had a bad view. Most are of trees, you may see a bus every so often if you are facing that side, but still not bad. Near the elevators is a good choice, stay with that. VWL is so peaceful, soak it all in. You may find yourself hanging around the resort more than you thought you would:thumbsup2

Thanks for the response! We'll give it a shot with "close to the elevator" and see how we like it.

We like lake side rooms so we can easily hear the boat horns in the early morning! The other side of the villas have bus sounds which we prefer to avoid! (Just can't find the romance in them, ya know?!?)

We are going in June of 2013! Very excited and I'm asking the same questions you are!

There is a thread called VWL Groupies! Wonderful, knowledgeable people who are just in love with VWL!

You should check it out!
