Just returned last night from a week long stay at VWL. We had a perfect trip and will post our trip report soon. Regarding the hot tub......one day while my husband, children and I had just exited the hot tub in the quiet pool area and were relaxing on the lounge chairs, we could not believe what we witnessed. A family of four, a father, mother and two young boys got into the hot tub and very soon after the little boy said Mom......I have to go pee and stepped out of the pool, the mother got out of the hot tub, looked around as the little boy was holding himself, and proceeded to tell him to just get back in the hot tub and sit down.......what do you think he did.......there were a few other couples in the hot tub at the time. The family continued to sit in the hot tub.....my husband and I were wondering if they were members staying in the villas....sure enough, when they exited the hot tub, they proceeded directly into the villas building.......I was so mad that someone would be inconsiderate enough to do this, that I was going to say something to the mother in front of everyone but decided not to. As surprised as my husband and I were that a mother would tell a child it was ok to do that, we witnessed it again - a different mother and child - same day. This boy was also in the hot tub, he told his mother he had to go pee and was going to get into the big pool, and she said no, just come back in the hot tub!!!!!! Needless to say, that was the end of the hot tub for my family for the rest of the day!!! Two days later we were enjoying ourselves again at the quiet pool, when a young teenage girl started to walk towards the villas and started vomiting right next to the pool. Her girlfriend proceeded to throw water on it and use the pool towels to try and clean it up (later put the towel right into the dirty towel bin). As it was so close to the pool we told her teenage friend that she should call the front desk to reported so someone could clean it up properly before the vomit went into the pool......the friend used the phone by the pool to call the front desk.....we were sitting by the pool for approximately an hour afterwards and not one person from VWL showed up to access the situation. Needless to say, my children were not allowed in that pool for the rest of the day!!!!!

That is disgusting! I guess I would have said something to them as well as a the front desk!

I'm sorry you had to witness this behavior.......unfortuantley, though it doesn't surprise me:(

EEEWWWWW!!!!

What is wrong with people??? I guess she figured the chlorine in the pool would 'zap' her son's pee. Gross.

Your story describes the EXACT reason that I always, always shower after using a hotel pool or hot tub!

Some People are just rude. Even when my DD was younger I used to make her get out of the pool and sit for a little while and then take her to the bathroon before I'd let her back in. I know when their young they are just too busy and figure what the heck no one will know.

That's just nasty!

The part of the story that fascinates me the most is the woman who told her son to do this, and said it right in front of other people!

I've posted this link here before.

Take a look at this. The story is about my brother's ex-girlfriend. I believe it all started with a cut on her finger. She said she went in a hot tub on her vacation. Look what happened next.

I personally won't go in a hot tub. YUCK!

EGADS:scared1:
I cannot believe that people are so disgusting-the only hot tub I'm getting in from now on is mine!

Unfortunately, having enough money to afford DVC doesn't mean having any class.

Somehow, I doubt this type of behavior is exclusive to the VWL hot tub.

I'm afraid I would have spoken to the woman and advised her strongly not to let the kid into the hot tub. If she insisted, I'd have felt compelled to let her know what I thought of such an inconsiderate act.

GROSS! My kids know not to pee in the pool. That is just gross. Like anyone wants to swim in someone's else pee! At least there is enough chlorine in there to make your swimsuit bleach out...

As for the vomit... Last trip while in line for Buzz we saw a kid get sick. The Dad ran him to the bathroom. Meanwhile a CM in a suit called on his walkie talkie I'm assuming for someone to come clean. That vomit was still there a good forty minutes later!!! This was during Christmas week and the line for Buzz was wrapped outside. We must have saw fifty people walk right in it unknowingly. That sure would never have happened years ago.

I gotten where I keep a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket and every so often give some to my kids at WDW. They rub their hands on everything! Worse, my youngest still sucks her thumb when she is stressed or tired. Can you imagine the germs in WDW?!? LOL YIKES!

Maybe if WDW started adding the chemical to pool and hot tub water that turns colors when it reacts with urin, it would help discourage the practice.

I've said it before....you just never know what people are going to do next.  I feel for Disney and the CMs who try to keep one step ahead of ever increasing challenges.

People who get sick at WDW sometimes like to blame it on the food -- when you hear tales like this you realize there are lots of other sources for illness.

It's bad enough when people put babies in the pools without swim diapers but when a child says they have to "go" and the parents are too lazy to take them to the restroom --- that's inexcusable.

They probably rented points on eBay.;)

That is so terrible! I cannot believe moms would do this! Disgusting!<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_2_5.gif' border=0></a>

Ewww...that is sooooo gross. How lazy of the parents not to take him to a restroom. I've not been to VWL's pool, but all the other WDW pools I've been to have restrooms very close by so I'm sure VWL does too which makes this matter even more disheartning that parents cannot take the time to escort their child to the restroom.

How gross. Can't believe people would have no concern or responsibility over the health or safety of others ? I read that link that floridafam posted too---how horrible a thing to endure and how easy it must be to get this bacteria if she got it from a simple cut on the finger. I've read about this strep A bacteria before and this woman was very lucky because it's resistant to alot of antibiotics.
I think I would have posted the whirlpool pee incident to the CM at the WL also. They probably should have shock-treated it or something as well as disinfect the area where the vomit was. I'm wondering if any of the CM's ever responded to that phone call ? I guess I would just hope that a report like that would be acted up immediately  I do understand that CM's are often overwhelmed with responsibilities.

First of all the parents obviously have no idea what the difference between right an wrong is and therefore the kid will grow up to be the same way and the cycle continues. Secondly, I can't stand when I see kids that feel the need to hangout in the hot tub. I think that hot tubs are for adults who want to relax and kids need to stay in the pool. Overall, I think that hot tubs are very gross as well as the bathtubs in DVC with the jets. Most of us have to run bleach through the jets before we can even use the tub!
