We are planning to stay at our home resort the 1st week of Dec 2005 in a 2 bedroom. Do we need to get day by day ressie or can I book the entire week on the check out date?

Having personally visted the first week of December this year, I can tell you that it is one of the quietest times of the year. I am sure that you would have no problem making the reservation at one time.

I would book day by day unless you don't mind using the waitlist process. Early December is a very popular time for DVC members to visit WDW.

The parks are not all that crowded during early December, but you will find the DVC resorts at capacity.

Best wishes -

The first week in December is when the annual meetings are held and it can be pretty busy at the DVC resorts. I would do day by day just to make sure.

I was going to put a disclaimer at the bottom of my message, that I am not expereinced enough with DVC resorts, in hopes that others would respond and re-inforce my message.

Obviously others responded, but to my surprise, DVC resort popularity may not be the same as park popularity. I guess another factor in the DVC room popularity is that the rates (# of points per week, or per night) are at the lowest during the beginning of December.

I agree FG. That is a big factor. Plus the fact that the VWL is "the DVC place to be" during the holiday season, makes it important to plan day by day just to make sure.

I have to agree that getting a ressie during early Dec at VWL should be done day by day. We have done this twice and got exactly what we wanted. Just let MS know your intentions to book day by day. They will make a note of it on your ressie and ask when your true checkout date will be. Its not hard to do and MS doesnt seem irritated by it.

Some on this board will argue that its crazy but most that own at VWL understand the reasoning. VWL is smallest DVC resort, therefore, tougher to get that time of year. But day by day shouldnt present any problem getting what you want.

Good luck! We will be there same time. We love it then!!

One thing to think about - do you want to book a dedicated 2 bedroom, which at VWL means 2 queen beds in the second bedroom? If yes, I would do day by day. If you wait, you could end up with a lockoff 2 bedroom, which is a 1 bedroom plus studio (queen plus sofa bed in the 2ne bedrooom, separate entrance, kitchenette).

Thanks for posting this question & for all those who answered. We are also looking to "go home" this week. I guess we'll be calling day-to-day.

I just asked a similar question, about our upcoming thanksgiving 2005 trip... In fact I just finished booking 'day-by-day' for our 2BR BWV standard view.

I booked the first day asap. While on the phone with MS, I ask their advice. They actually advised me to keep booking day-to-day, just to be safe.

Update. I was unsure of the exact dates we wanted to travel so I waited and booked Dec 3-10 in one call yesterday. I got a dedicated NS, 2BR at VWL without an issue.

MS was busy all day until about 5:20pm. Then I got through right away and was off the phone in about 2 minutes. They didn't ask for names, but did ask for the ages of my 2 kids.
