I will be staying at the VWL in December. I just read in the Unofficial Guide that DVC members check in at the regular WL lobby. Is that right? I hadn't ever caught that before and thought there was a dedicated DVC lobby at the Villas. :confused3

Also, I am not familiar with VWL at all. I am staying in a dedicated studio and would like as nice a view as possible. It doesn't appear you could ever see the lake, though, right? How and what should I request? Pool view, woods view . . . should I mention: "PUHLEEZE no dumpster view". Figure if I do they would punish me and put me in it on purpose.

Thanks everyone.

You use the Regular lobby for check-in. I believe the only DVC that has a seperate counter for the villas will be the Kidani building - and that's just for Kidani as anyone staying in Jambo will use the counter in that building. Someone correct me if I'm wrong (I have not had the pleasure of staying everywhere ... yet)

As for request, ask for what you want. Do you want a lake view? First Floor? Pool View? Ask for those, and then at least the room assigner will see you are concerned about your view enough to make a request. Nothing will guarantee you won't get the *ahem* recycling view, but it may help.

Thanks Twinklebug. I have stayed at AKV and BWV before so I don't know why I didn't realize I had never checked in at a separate DVC lobby. I just was thinking VWL had that lobby by the Spike Room.

As for the view, I will go for "quiet, top floor (or do I want that - does the balcony have that weird enclosure) and pool view". Sounds like my best option.

Ask for a pool view near the elevator. If you get too far past the elevator on the end farthest from the lodge, you can't see much through the trees.

I'd ask for the pool view as a first request as there are fewer units with this and it'll stand out. The top floor does have the roof and solid walls around most of the balconies. I liked the ones that were open to the sky. The ones with the roof tops gathered dead bugs that weren't swept out... and they were mighty BIG ones too. :scared:

We just stayed at WVL from September 4th - 12th in 1 bedroom on the 4th with our twin 4 year old grandchildren and the check in for the Villas was at Wilderness lobby. There is a large TV showing Disney cartoons which our DGS and DGD immediately found. Also be certain to check out the Train Room off from the Villas lobby area as it has one of Walt Disney's train. We had to visit this room every day and they loved sitting in the rocking chairs by the fireplace. Would try to ask for room to be near elevator.

Thanks, sparkyboy. [which is really fun to say, by the way] Sparkyboy . . . said just like SNL - Superstar!!! :cutie:

VWL does have it's own lobby, but it's just a place to sit and relax. You don't actually check-in there.

BWV does not have any type of DVC lobby. BCV has the DVC breezeway and a nice entrance way from the pool area, but I wouldn't call either of these a real lobby.

The VWL DVC lobby is more like a smaller version of the regular VWL lobby, and without any type of check-in area.

Be carefull of how you make your request. Last time we were there, I made a deal out of not wanting a 1st floor room and not wanting an HA room. So what did I get - the dumpster view. And it is as bad as it sounds. My theory is, if you make a beef out of what you want/don't want but don't mention not wanting dumpster view, they put you there on purpose. That's just my theory. We will be staying there in December and the only request I'm going to make is "no dumpster view".

Thanks for all the great responses. I called today and asked for "quiet, high floor, pool view." Really, I just hope I get a pleasant view . . . that doesn't involve any type of trash container.

Now that's just naughty of them. :cutie:
