Just looking for thoughts, ideas and speculation on what you think will happen with VWL and the new Copper Creek DVC. Will they be seperate or will they combine. Yes who really knows but this is part of what we do on forums. What do you think will happen. What would you like to see happen. All ideas and comments appreciated.

It was referred to as a new development in the announcement. And the different name pretty much confirms it.

So my first question on the two being seperate is won't everyone at the 7 month window pick Copper Creek villas over VWL and would that have a negative effect on filling VWL. Or would Disney just rent out the available VWL villas to compensate for them possibly sitting empty.

Makes sense that this could be the plan. Just thinking of other possible outcomes that might not be as likely. Also how would VWL owners benefit or not benefit by a split or combine situation.

DVC is sold to be full year round. Even if people do select the new Villas instead of the original they would just fill first, but the original won't sit empty, it would just fill later. Howeverjust as people don't all rank their favorite DVC in the same order that would also be true even of locations at the WL resort. Knowing what the room configs will be could help in guessing if it will be more popular but there will be the same differences of the hub bub of being in the main building vs the quieter atmosphere of the original.

We used to stay in the hotel but I've liked VWL more and while we'd likely stay in the new too I think with all things being standard in the new we will mostly select the original VWL.

VWL points expire in 2042, most likely Copper Creek will expire around 2066. How could they be combined? Would you pay around $170 a point for the new section and be on equal footing with someone who paid less than half?

I wouldn't be surprised if the new room points per night will be higher, which will encourage people to book the old section at 7 months.

Not saying they would do this but wasn't there a DVC add on at OKW villas a ways back and they combined the new villas into the old part offering the old owners a later expiration date for a fee? Of course there wasn't 20+ years between the old and new expiration dates. With the seperate name for the new WL villas it does seem telling on their possible plans though.

They moved the OKW sales center to Boardwalk and built 3 new buildings in the space around 1999. I think the extension to 2057 was after that and was offered to all OKW owners, not just the new points. From what I understand, it didn't go well.

There could well be the opposite effect. Copper Creek will be a stand alone DVC and thus its owners will be able to reserve VWL, now becoming Boulder Ridge Villas (BRV), only at 7 months out or less and BRV owners will be able to reserve Copper Creek only at 7 months out or less. I do not think it is even arguable that the price per point will be less than $160 for Copper Creek or that the points needed per night will be the same or less than BRV for like rooms, and most likely they will require more poitns per night. That will likely result in higher demand for BRV at 7 months out as Copper Creek owners seek the bargain per night point cost at BRV, and still be at Wilderness Lodge, while owners of BRV won't be rushing to reserve Copper Creek at 7 months out because of its higher per night point cost. Result: BRV will be seeing greater demand than before. Moreover, the last thing a BRV owner should want is for the two resorts to be combined as one DVC with all rooms subject to the same 11 month window. All you need is for Copper Creek rooms to cost one point per night more than the comparable room size at BRV and you will have droves of new Copper Creek purchasers using the 11 month window to reserve BRV, effectively destroying any 11 month advantage the existing BRV owners currently have.

I believe the existing Villas and converted rooms in the main building are being renamed Boulder Ridge Villas, and the new ones will be Copper Creek Villas and Cabins. I read this info very recently.

yeahthat.gif Yes. Completely agree on all points. Except that I'll keep calling it VWL. Aside from that I agree that VWL could become the "Standard View" option on the Wilderness Lodge campus for DVC folks and thus it could be quite popular due to the "point discount" compared to CCV.

For those that enjoy the current VWL (yes, which will become BRV), it will be even more important to have the booking advantage during certain times of the year, especially the Christmas holiday period.

Of course, the villa amenities at CCV may be much improved over VWL to make the villas more attractive and to justify the point spread between the two. We'll just have to wait and see.

What if the new Copper Creek rooms are nicer and are more like the older themed VWL rooms. That might bum me out a bit if I am a older VWL owner and was a fan of the look of the older VWL rooms. When I talk about those booking at the 7 month window I am more thinking of all those who don't own at VWL or Copper Creek. If the new rooms are nicer and have great theming I was thinking those would be more popular even with a high points per night cost.

At 7 months, this won't impact the BRV/VWL owners, who can all book their own resort at 11 months, and it won't impact the C3V owners, because they'll be able to book at 11 months for the resort.

The new Copper Creek rooms are likely to be nice. For $160pp+, and the likely per-night cost? They'd better be. But they are most def a different condo association.

The solution, as others have referenced? If you want to stay at VWL/BRV, own there.

We will have to see what happens but I am a bit confused on one thing. VWL will be adding rooms by the main hotel converted rooms as BRV?How will that work. The new rooms at BRV/VWL won't be connected to CCV?They have to sell new points for the converted rooms but they will have what expiration date. Not to make things more confusing but my head is starting to spin a bit.

That is not what is happenning. All DVC rooms currently being constructed, the conversions to DVC in WL and the cabins on the shoreline will be part of the new Copper Creek. Old VWL, soon to be BRV, is not gaining any rooms. The new Copper Creek will have an end date that is about 50 years from when it goes on sale.

Thank you. A post about 5 above confused me on that. Crystal clear now.

Nope. The existing are Boulder Ridge and all the new ones, converted hotel room and waterside cabins, will be Copper Creek.

Incorrect.

The existing Villas (VWL) will be renamed Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
The converted rooms in the main building & the cabins will be named Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
