Does anyone know how VWL fared during the hurricane? It may be posted here somewhere but I was computerless for a few days and may have missed it. Thanks for any info!:sunny:

Other than some landscaping damage, none of the WDW resorts suffered any real damage. At this point, it's likely that you could hadly tell Charley even went thru WDW.

VWL is fine.

Enjoy!

Thank you very much! Disney World is a place for magic and miracles, not destruction. (at least in my fantasy world!)

Thanks for the report, Doc. After reading about trees down at VWL, we were concerned for structural damage.

Thanks Doc!

I wondered how the VWL made it (seeing as how that is our main home).:teeth:

That's great news...especially since we just bought there. :earsboy:

I just returned from the VWL. As Doc said, it is fine minus many down trees. For a minute, I thought my favorite moose (the tree limb structure as you enter) was down but it was fine except for a new angle to the antlers. Especially at VWL the damage is not noticeable unless you are looking for it. All over property tress are down and torn in half. It was pretty said. I wouldn't be surprised if it took them another 2 weeks to finish clean up based on where they were at when I left. (The safari as AK was pretty bad).

It is amazing, there was no humna injuries with the amount of down trees.

Thankfully the animals at AK were safe also. I believe they took extra messures at AK before the hurricane. Thanks for all your reports!

Everything in that article has long ago been debunked. Don't try to dispense that false intelligence AGAIN!

I don't think you read it...first it is not an intelligence report. Take the time to read it and then make your comment. Secondly, I'll challenge you to point to one statement in the article that is not true. Just one Lake Ariel

Just got back last night. We talked to some folks that stayed at WL before they moved over to BWV and according to them a piece of roof actually blew off!!

We too were at the lodge arriving Friday at 11:30 Am. We were staying 2 nights in Concierge before moving to BWV for the rest of our vaction. We were on the 7th floor facing the villas building and were able to watch a good deal of the storm from our balcony until it got too windy and dangerous. The parks closed at 1 an dthe lobby of the lodge was pandemonium with all of the people!! We went down to Roaring Forks to get a light dinner at about 5:30pm and had just ordered when cast members cme through and ordered all guests to go to their rooms for safety. We were able to get our food and go up to our room since we had already ordered but many people were not as lucky!! We had to stay in our room for the remainder of the evening. We never lost power or cable, however the hotel staff delivered flashlight to each room just in case! The stff communicated with guests via voice mail and basically told us to stay in our rooms with the curtains drawn and not to throw the deadbolt locks in case of emergency. About 11:30 the general manager of WL left voice mail saying that Whispering canyon would be open until 1:00 serving a light buffet which guests could get and take back to their rooms. He stressed that guests must remain in their rooms except to get the food. ( we were sleeping so we missed this!) We heard a piece of the room come off the lodge at the height of the storm! This was alittle scary..the sound of metal ripping! We saw the next day the it was apart of the facade on the front!
We felt that the staff of WL did a great job!!!
