VWL 2BR on Cash

Guess what I have found out when I called MS last week. I was using VWL points for our Thanksgiving stay beginning on 11/28 (Thursday night) through Monday night. To my surprise one of the CM (not sure if it's Todd) told me that sometimes they have DVC member specials ($390 plus 11% tax, value season) available. The two bedroom would of cost $577.20 ($520 plus tax) for the weekend stays per night (value season), but the special was available at $390 a night!!! So I cancelled the Friday (75 points) and Saturday night (61 points) stays and booked on cash. Wow, I saved 136 points by paying $432.90 a night.

Just wanted to share with everyone. By the way, I have also cancelled the Monday night (12/1/02) stay. So, if any one is looking for a two BR at the VWL, call MS.

Hmmm...this would mean that VWL points should rent for $8 per point.

They gave you the 25% member discount on a cash room. It's usually hard to get, especially this far from the date.

Weekday points are 34 at the end of November, so that would be almost $13 per point. So renting weekday points for $10 is quite a bargain.

Deb is right. I was just very lucky to get the $390 rate. Garth (MS) was surprised that it was available. The slight draw back to this deal was that I might have to switch rooms during the VWL stay (for Thursday night 11/28) we are in a 2 BR lockoff (waitlist for dedicated 2BR). Furthermore, it forces me to sacrifice the Monday night (12/1) reservation and stick with OKW for the four nights prior to our 12/5/02 DCL. So by taking advantage of the cash rate, I would potentially need to move on the second day of our stay, then hop over to OKW for four nights, having to give up VWL 2 BR at 30 points a night for December stay. By the way, its 40 points for 11/28 (even by securing the $432.90 DVC discounted rate, thats $10.82 per point for 11/28) and giving up 12/1's 30 points a night ($14.43 per point) was a tough choice.
