VWL -2 bdrm Handicap Friendly?

Although I love the VWL, I have not stayed there in several years. A co-worker is planning on going to WDW this fall and wants to stay at WL with his DD and her family. Her DH is in a wheel chair (don't get a spinal tap done on a holiday) and I suggested, rather than 2 rooms, get a 2 bdrm. After thinking about it, I wonder if they might not be a little compact for someone in a wheelchair 24/7. Opinions, please?

We stayed in a regular 2 bedroom VWL (not a handicapped accessible one). It was tight and difficult to manouver around my DD's very narrow small adult wheelchair. I don't know how the wheelchair accessible rooms at VWL compare to the regular ones, but we had to keep moving furniture back and forth so DD could move around. The wheelchair accessible rooms have to have at least a 32 inch wide path around the room for getting around, so it should be better. I think to get that extra room, they might have less furniture and some changes to the kitchen. I don't think the rooms themselves are any larger from what I have read; just layed out differently.

Maybe someday, we will try a wheelchair accessible VWL room, but we are used to OKW, which is plenty roomy for a wheelchair user (even in the bathrooms) and don't like to compromise with something smaller.

We've had a 2 bedroom handicap room at the VWL (it was on the 1st floor). The kitchen was bigger (countertops lowered). It was definitely set up for a wheel chair.

Thanks for the responses. When I mentioned the 2 bdrm, I did not consider how it might be very tight for the wheel chair, unless they specified the handicap unit.

Your comment about spinal taps and holidays have me wondering, what the heck happened?? I have always maintained that in order to do a spinal tap or blood transfusion on me, the doc had better have a pretty good reason. Now you may have fueled my phobia!!!
