I am looking for a gift for my friend's DD2.5 I am interested in one of the VTECH or Leapfrog products (something educational that can be hooked up to the TV or computer). Can anyone share their experiences with any of the following products, or about a similar type of product that you own? I am looking for positive and negative reviews - I have read reviews on these and some people complain that they stop working, etc. So i'm a little hesitant... Thanks in advance!

We have had a vsmile for 3 years now and no issues. my son loves it and has played with it from the time he was 3. I think 2 1/2 is a bit young for it but wouldn't be long before she would grow into it.

I know a few people with them and have never heard of any issues. Sorry, no experience with the other two.

Thank you for your review of the VSmile. I realize that my friend's daughter is a little young...she will be 3 in May so I'd rather get her something that she can grow into. Her Mom is a Kindergarten teacher and she is actually very bright for a 2.5 year old. :santa:

We started with the vsmile baby when my daughter was 9 months old. Went to the Vsmile when she was 3 and this Christmas she's going to get the Vsmile pocket (Hand held version) , which works with all the Vsmile cartridges she currently has.

My daughter would have done well with the Vsmile at 2 1/2 but we waited until her birthday.

The age recomended for the Vsmile pocket is 5 but since her games are for 3-5 and 4-6 we figure she'll be fine with the pocket.

We have gone the EXACT same route! We started out with Vsmile baby, moved on to Vsmile and I just got my DD (5) a Vpocket as my DH got DD8 a Nintendo ds. I'm hoping my little one will enjoy it so much, she won't miss the DS. It's great that the games from Vsmile work with it too! All in all we have had a great experience with these toys and I highly recommend them despite the fact that I am not a fan of video games. :)
