VRBO: Trouble getting responses!

I have put in request for availability at about 8 homes on VRBO/HomeAway. I did this all on Wednesday night, and not one of the owners have messaged me back. Have I done something wrong? I prefer to deal via email, as I am just not a phone person and have little ones who interrupt while I am on the phone. Also, not all of the owners listed phone numbers.

Any ideas on what I should do? Should I resend my requests? We need to make our accommodations next week, and we only have 1 for sure rental to work with. (And it wasn't our top pick)

You haven't done anything wrong. Not all the people who post on VRBO are all that reliable. I wouldn't send another message, but maybe that's just me. I have used VRBO and Homeaway quite a bit. If owner's don't respond...I move on quickly. I would look for some other properties. TripAdvisor also does rentals now, so another place to look.

If an owner doesn't respond to your inquiry, they are probably not going to be responsive if you need something during your stay. I would keep looking.

I'm not sure where you are looking for a rental, but several of the top communities such as Windsor Hills and Windsor Palms have their own rental sites where you can send a blanket inquiry for your requested dates and then wait for responses and then sort from there.

I've always given more consideration to the vrbo contact people if they reply within a few hours.

You may want to check your spam or "all mail" accounts on your email service. I find that my gmail app on my iPad filters out a lot of emails to my inbox especially if I didn't initiate the email through the app.

We love Windsor Hills, but were looking for a single family home with a pool. And most of the WH/WP single family pool villas were a little pricier than what we were thinking of spending. Guess I will go back to the drawing board!

Also, I find it strange that SO many owners/managers didn't respond! We have used VRBO many times, and have NEVER had an issue like this before. Frustrating...especially when it seemed like we had found the perfect place.

Well now... I discovered what I was missing. Somehow, ALL of my responses have been sent to the email that I had registered with over 7 years ago instead of the email I had included on the form. I just happened to think that might have been the problem...and it was! Opened it to find MANY responses! YAY!!!

I have had that problem, and its always with the people who don't fill out their availability calendar. Some people leave it blank so their unit comes up as available, but either they respond "not available" or ignore the request completely.
I would double check the availability before asking for a quote, and I would expand my search to other nearby neighborhoods. You can add Emerald Island, Paradise Palms, Formosa Gardens, Terra Verde, etc. There are a lot of good ones that are often less than WH/WP.

Consider also looking at Emerald Island (manned gate), Sunset Lakes (coded gate), and Indian Creek (non gated). These communities are near Windsor Hills and tend to be cheaper but are still very nice.
