VRBO - too good to be true?

I am searching for the most affordable place to stay in September for 2 adults and 3 children. On VRBO, there are 2 and 3 bedroom condos/villas/houses for $50 to $60 a night! Of course it will end up being a little more than that nightly because of cleaning fees and taxes, but these are really really good deals. Does the price seem low? Are these legit? Are these places in unsafe neighborhoods? Or is there just an abundance of lodging in Orlando so these offers are good?

You can get great deals on houses in Orlando. Last year, we stayed in a 3 bedroom/3 bath townhouse for about $50 a night and it was fantatic.

I have used VRBO for several vacations. I am using it again for this Disney trip starting in ***2 days!*** We are paying $140/night for a 4 bed room/2 bathroom home with a private pool and hot tub. It seems too good to be true but it's most assuredly true. As for neighborhoods, if you have concerns, message the owner and check out neighborhoodscout dot com or city-data dot com or for neighborhood info.

Thank you for your replies. I'm glad to know they are probably legit. Now I'm going to do some research on these and narrow them down.

Check location. There are houses that are VERY close to Disney parks (closer than many of the resorts), and many that require a fairly long commute in traffic.

Definitely check the location on google maps. My will say "Only 20 minutes from Disney!" What they really mean is 20 minutes from Disney Property. It's still going to be another 10 minutes or so to get to the parking lot. And then another 10 or more minutes to get to the park itself.

The one we stayed in was in Royal Oaks and was literally 13 minutes from the MK parking lot.

Use google maps to find the drive time to the parks.

I've never used them for travel in the US -only in Europe ...either VRBO or Homeaway, etc. It's definitely a good option -just check reviews(should be at least several) and get a contract. Last fall we went to London/Paris with another couple and landed a 2-BR flat ON Trafalgar Square and another in the heart of the St. Germain district in Paris ...basically for the cost of a nice hotel room. So if you look you'll find a good deal.

Again, thanks for your help everyone. I ended up getting 2 bedroom condo at Bonnet Creek using VRBO. The rate was really good, the location is super close and my kids will love the fun pool areas.

We found a dream home 7 bedroom, 5 bathrooms through VRBO. We have stayed there several times and love the great location, so close to all Disney attractions. Love the private pool, gated community, with community center and community pool.

We have found great deals as well on many different trips. We usually stay at Windsor Hills and have never had a problem. Love the extra space, resort pool with water slide, and faster to the parks than riding the bus from most resorts on property.

I just used SkyAuction and got a 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa at Sheraton Vistana for just a little over $67 per night. It worked out great and since I had stayed there before I knew what the resort offered but it was a fabulous deal $450 for 7 nights! Give it a go.
