I've been trying to get a 2+ bedroom condo for a trip in late February but I'm getting really frustrated with VRBO. I've submitted requests for 4 different properties, and even payment info for one, all of which showed as available on the dates I'm searching. All 4 have been declined because they are booked. Is there some sort of trick I'm missing? Is it normal for them to show up in search when they're actually booked? I don't know how many more times I want to go through this process. This is my first time using VRBO and so far I have to say I'm not exactly impressed.

Yes, it happens quite frequently. Some owners don't update their calendars regularly. It does get frustrating. I hate it when there is no calendar at all, I know they have their reasons for not showing availability but I usually pass on those ones because it's just too much hassle sending emails and getting no availability answers. It's bad enough sending inquiries to those that you think are available.

Have you considered renting with a management company like Florida Sun Vacation Homes, All Star Vacation Homes, Vacation Central Florida, or Magical Vacation Homes? Sometimes these companies offer great last minute deals and have a good inventory of available condos.

You can't depend on the online calendars. They aren't updated regularly. I've rented through VRBO many times. I just find a few properties I like, send an inquiry with my dates, and then wait on the responses. VRBO saves your data so that you don't have to keep retyping your message so it makes it easier to send out multiple inquiries.

Finding a spot really shouldn't be hard as there are thousands of properties unless you are very particular about where you want to stay. Where are you looking?

I have had great luck on redweek. You shiuld find what you want for a good price. It's worth the $15 fee.

We were hoping to stay in a particular complex (Paradise Cay in Kissimmee) because several of my friends live there, but it looks like there's no availability. Everything else I'm finding that's showing available is significantly more expensive, to the point that we've decided we're probably just going to stay on property.

I booked presidents week 3 bedroom for 1500 on redweek Marriott grand vista
