VRBO Experiences - Windsor Hills

We're planning a trip Feb 2009 and I'm strongly considering renting something in Windsor Hills.

I've been exploring the possibilities on VRBO, but I'm a bit overwhelmed by what's available, and I'm VERY nervous about booking through VRBO. How do you know the person you're renting from is reputable? What experiences have other DISers had dealing with VRBO? Etc. TIA

I have booked a TH at WH with same owner without any problems - am returning to the same home for the 3rd time this year.

The 1st time I was a littly wary but could pay by c/c and checked the owners register to ensure they did actually own the place!

The following site is for all listing sites that fall under the main HomeAway company. http://guarantee.homeaway.com/
VRBO is one of them as well as all those across the top of the site page. It is a guarantee against fraud for the listings on any of those sites.

There's also the WH owners listing site: www.windsorhillsrent.com that you can use to contact owners.
We've been using vrbo and sites like this for many years and had no problems. I do usually check out the owners on the County tax records site to be sure they own the properties. http://ira.property-appraiser.org/
