We just booked this 5 bedroom home on Bowring Street in Windsor Hills for August and I was wondering if anyone has stayed there. The pictures and description of the home look great but after reading some of the stories about people showing up and not actually having a rental I'm feeling a bit nervous.

Everything checks out with the tax records and zillow listings. Maybe you could get the name of their management company and talk to them.

Sympatico - I always check the tax records before I rent from someone - but what's the zillow listing you referenced?

FYI - I googled the renter I just booked for our March trip and he's all over the web. Found him on LinkedIn and through a couple of other organizations - so if he stiffs me on the rental, I know where he lives!

Zillow.com has listings of homes that are for sale, in foreclosure, recently sold etc. It may not have up-to-the-minute info but it's fairly current.
There's also a clerk of the courts site that has foreclosure listings along with lots of legal info about properties and owners. It's amazing how much stuff you can find out.

I did check the tax & assessor's records and found that everything seemed to be fine but I didn't know about Zillow. I've rented from VRBO in the past and never had a problem but reading some of the horror stories on different boards made me second guess using VRBO.
