VP Is Visiting DLR This Weeknd + Protesters

(we are doing a split stay and moving over to the Grand Villa Sunday afternoon at VGC).
Was the Grand Villa not available this weekend when you initially booked your trip? I assume that is where the VP and his family are staying.

I get annoyed when our freeways are closed for politicians who are in town for fundraisers. I can only imagine what it feels like to have your vacation impacted by an unexpected visit.

DLR is pretty darn good about moving VIPs around without guests being aware (other than temporary attraction closures). Prince Harry and his family were there last month and I haven't seen photos other than those posted by Meghan. They were on ROTR and met Elsa - both which are easy to do privately. But they also rode the carousel. You can see people in the background yet there are no images of the kids on the ride. I wonder if it was surrounded by security dressed as guests. :cool2:

Well, with kids the ages his are (7,4,2), there's going to be a lot of time spent in FL I would imagine, as well as Toontown...sounds like a great day to go hang with the Avengers! 😂🤣.

In case it isn't obvious, I dont know anything about the different types of rooms. I assumed the Grand Villa was the nicest.

I’m here now, staying at the Grand Californian. It was a “normal somewhat” great and fun day at DLR. Yes, there were a lot of secret service, security, local PD, a couple of trained dogs, it was not overwhelming at all. We thought it was kind of funny that all security, except for PD officers, were dressed in causal clothes and trying to look as to “blend in”. When the VP family was on ROTC the cast members said there was a “temporary delay.” When my DD asked if it was down, they said no just a very short delay. After a short while, it opened up like normal. Same happened on the Haunted Mansion. Also when they were eating, there were security posted at the door.

For us, having the VP and his family vacationing at DLR and staying a GCH had no negative impact whatsoever. I think it was great for his family to spend time at Disney to have some fun!

Glad to hear! I just watched some videos of protesters and their bullhorns in front of the GCH. What idiots. Do you think shouting in your bullhorns, distributing the vacations of thousands of guests who paid good money to be there, is a good idea? The VIP suites are the further away from the street….

It's the same terminally online "good people" that did the same thing at the Fairfield over misinformation. Certain social media sites were obsessed and unhinged about this, to the point of wanting his kids to be "fair game." Luckily it seemed to be just a loud minority as most parkgoers just went about their business like most sane people do.

We checked into DGC yesterday and were so confused by the extra security 🤣 …then learned the why. I’m like do they seriously search all your stuff when checking in.. is this normal? We had a rental and I just dropped off everyone before I returned it and the vehicle was searched by a dog. Then when I walked back to the hotel had to go thru security to get into the hotel.

Can't wait to hear what it's like in the park...boats full of Secret Service before and aft in Pirates...clearing out whole queues for Peter Pan..I'm sure they'll love ROTR...
we were there yesterday, and the main thing I noticed was that a LOT of unusual rides went down for like 30-40 minutes— don’t know how many were the Vance’s and how many were a fluke. It wasn’t a very crowded day at DLR in the afternoon, fantasy land was almost eerie around 3pm, less less than 20 people in line for Storybook board, teacups, etc. as we passed through. Did Casey Jr. circus train for the first time in years because it was a literal walk-on.

I was hoping to have the chance to join an in park flash mob protest or tell him off, but not actually willing to disrupt my day to look for him. 😛

Maybe an organized 20-minutes where he lets the mob yell at him without his kids around and then everyone agrees to go about their day peacefully…. A compromise….
