Have a friend who needs help planning a vow renewal for their 40th anniversary next year. It will be nothing big. Just 5 people but he wants it special but a surprise for his wife. I have been looknig around for ideas but need some help.

They were thinknig of Bok Tower Gardens for the location but I don't see anything on their website that says they offer that. How do you go about doing this?

If he would want to do something on Disney property he would have to go through Disney Weddings right? He doesn't want to get that expensive though.

Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated.

If he wants to do an official Disney's Fairytale Weddings vow renewal, the smallest package they offer is the Escape Package, which includes cake, Champagne, bouquet, boutonniere, musician, photography, limo, and 2 annual passes and starts at $4,750. They have done these as surprise vow renewals before, so Disney could help him with that aspect as well.

If he has any connections with the military or could get a military sponsor, he could do the vow renewal at Shades of Green, which offers a package similar to Disney's Escape Collection for just about $1,000. Swan & Dolphin events start at just under $2,000. Another idea is to rent out a private room at a restaurant like Fulton's and have a party there.

Otherwise, here's a link to a great thread that lists lots of off-site alternatives for weddings.

Some of these, like Kraft Azalea Garden, have very low fees, so if you just want it to be the 5 people and no other hoopla, it can be very inexpensive.

Hope this helps! :thumbsup2

This sounds very similar to what we did (we got married, not a vow renewal) it was just my DH, myself and two guests. We got married at Shades of Green. If there is a military connection in their family this sounds like it would be great for them!

This also is the by far cheapest way to get married on property. It can be done with flowers, photographer, and rental of the space for less that $500.

What does the military connection have to be? My future FIL (and many other members of his family) are retired military. I've always wondered about that for staying at Shades of Green. Do you have to be active? Is there more info about this somewhere? That would make a Disney wedding SO much more feasible for us!

Here is the link to the Shades of Green website - yes retired military members are eligible to book rooms and I believe they can sponsor three other rooms with their reservation for people who do not have a military affiliation. However the person with the military association will need to stay with you at the same time. Look at the sponsoring link under eligibility.

Remember you can't use the Disney Dining plan but you can get military discounted park tickets at Shades of Green.
