This is going to be my planning journal for my vow renewal that my hubby and I are going to do at WDW.

I guess I should give some back story to our relationship.

My hubby and I are 23 and 24, and we got married October 14, 2006.

A lot of people will say that A) we are really young to be married and B) why are we thinking of vow renewal so soon.

Well my DH proposed December 17,2005 at my office's annual Christmas Ball. Well that summer, he decided to do delayed enlistment in the USAF, which meant we needed to get married soon so with 3 months to spare, we had to plan a wedding.

We chose October 14, becuase it was a saturday to start, and because we started dating January 14, my birthday is July 14 and valentine's day is Feb. 14. He figured by throwing another 14 into the mix, he couldn't screw up any important days.

We both really wanted a disney wedding (even though he'd never been, but after seeing the planning video and some wedding shows on tv he liked the idea) but that would not work because my family is very important to me and they just don't travel. Also the heat would not be good for my grandmother who is the most important thing in this world to me, if she couldn't have seen me get married then I wouldn't have even bothered with a wedding at all. Also the fact that we had 3 months to plan and pull off a wedding and I knew that would be impossible at wdw. A disneymoon would have to do.

All in all my wedding was really special to me because I got my cake from the bakery that my grandmother got her cake from, and I even got married in the same church as she did 47 years earlier. That was extremely special to me. I also got a night time in the DC area at a Marriott reception that I never thought I would be able to get. I never thought I would be able to have a fancy night time hotel reception. Especially in this area. It's so expensive, but there aren't many other options.

Another reason I want to renew our vows is because I didn't have time to loose any weight for my first wedding. I met him at a size 6, and ballooned to a size 16 because of medication and sickness and came back to a 12/14. I want pictures that I actually feel pretty in because I felt so down and ugly on my wedding day.

We don't know a date yet, but I am thinking it would be cool to renew after 1,000 days of marriage. I wanted to be proposed to after 1,000 days of dating, and he almost hit that date.

Since the hubby didn't go USAF ( that is a LONG story in itself) we have plenty of time to plan and I am in no hurry really. I think we are going to go down to wdw and renew with just the two of us. We already had a big wedding with family and friends, now we just want something sweet and simple and they two os us with no stress and hoopla.

I know a couple of options for dresses that I want. Once I figure out how to post pictures I will get them up on here.

You looked beautiful on your wedding day! I hope you have fun planning the VR. I am looking forward to hearing all about it! This is a great place to hang out for all sorts of ideas. :thumbsup2 And everyone is so NICE!!! :grouphug:

Hey, I noticed the Rehobeth sweatshirt. Are you guys in DE?

congrats on your upcoming VR :)
you looked beautiful on your wedding day :bride:
i went from having a year and a half to plan my DFTW to only having 2 months :scared1:

Aww...you looked beautiful on your wedding day!!

But I totally understand about how your weight makes you feel! About a year before DH and I got married, I had lost about 35lbs and was down to a size 10/12. When we got married, I had gained about half of that weight back...and now i'm heavier than I was to begin with. :( It sucks...I want to lose my weight, but i'm incredibly lazy and busy...lol...it's hard to find the time to workout! However...I do want to lose it and I want to be skinny for when our adoption comes through and for when the time comes for our Vow Renewal! I want to look fabulous in my dress and to have pictures that I am proud of! (not that i'm not proud of my wedding pictures now of course...lol)

One of these days I'll get around to starting a PJ. I've already got a folder on the desktop of my laptop with dress wishes and just stuff. Our renewal won't even happen until at least 2012..so I feel funny starting something so early for something so far away!

Looking forward to following your plans!!

Thanks for the sweet replies everyone. It makes me feel a little better about the original wedding day ( rude people at my job made rude comments about the pictures so I don't even have my wedding pictures at my desk any more :guilty: It's sad that I let these people get to me)

Keener--- We aren't in DE, we are about 3 hours away-right outside of DC. Rehoboth is my second favorite place (after disney!!) to be... I grew up at that beach. I haven't missed going up there in the summer in over 10 years. Are you in DE??

I think you need to borrow Caryn's hate blockers! :3dglasses
I wouldn't let what ANYONE says keep you from displaying your pictures. I think that's incredibly rude for someone to say anything negative about someone's wedding pictures! Unless those pictures were taken in the early 1970's and they are your mom's...lol...;) Have you seen some of those dresses? :rotfl:

Hold your head up high sweetie! You looked bea-u-ti-ful on your wedding day!

I can't stand that anyone would make any kind of negative comment about those absolutely gorgeous pix! I agree that you need som serious hateblockers. :cool2: :cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

Yes, we are in Wilmington, DE, about 2 hours from Rehobeth, but we get down there very frequently. In fact we'll be there next week for the Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics Delaware. We love it there, even off-season. If you get there this summer, maybe we could arrange a mini-DISBrides meet. :cutie:

I also wanted to say how beautiful you looked on your wedding day! I say put those pics back up at your job! Don't let rude people get you down!!

I don't think you got married young! I was 22 and DH was 25 when we got married. We celebrated 10 years last year and this Feb we celebrate 14 years as a couple!! We are also planning a VR, but we are going all out and doing a wedding since we didn't have one the first time.

When I saw the Rehoboth Beach I was going to ask if that's where you live. My mom loves it there and she is looking at houses there with her boyfriend. They want to live there so bad, they say it's so great there.

I'm looking forward to reading all your plans and I'm happy to see another person planning a VR!!!

Since I've already done the huge train and big heavy dress, I am thinking something smaller and more tropical (I think I am going beach-y on this) These are some preliminary ideas.

These might not be completely beachy looking, but I am still in the very early stages of planning and the vow renewal is a long time off.

I love the 2nd dress and I believe the 3rd dress is the one Roolilone is wearing for her VR. Check out her PJ.

I'm with Nikki...I like both the second and the third! The third one, though, is my favorite!

Congrats and welcome! You were definitely not too young when you got married, I was 23 and my DH was 24!! And you look beautiful in your wedding pics, shame on anyone that would say anything different.

Now, I'm dying laughing right now, seriously...:lmao: 3 out of the 4 dresses you have chosen are the same ones I was choosing between not that long ago, the exact same 3!!! All from Alfred Angelo, correct! I chose the 3rd one and I will tell you it looks better in person than in the picture. It's gorgeous! I love it. I have a VR journal and you can check out more pics on that dress too.

Can't wait to read more about your plans! :flower3:

Welcome to the Dis boards! Can't wait to hear all your plans! Can I just tell you that I LOVE the 3rd dress! I like that it isn't so formal, but it still is elegant. (if that makes any since)!
