DH and I will be married 4 yrs this Oct. We were thinking of renewing our vows at WDW next year for our 5th anny! Does renewing vows after 5 yrs seem silly? Do people normally wait for 10 yrs? We had a huge wedding the first time around but want a truly magical experience by renewing in the World. Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

It's YOUR vow renewal. Who cares what everyone else thinks?? ;)
If it makes you happy and you can afford to do so, then do it!

LOL - nope I don't think 5 years sounds silly at all - very romantic - I don't think there is a time maximum on re-creating the magic and the romance.
You should do it.

dh and i are doing the very same thing! we'll be married 5 years come 2007 and we plan to do the vow renewal then as well!

Thanks for the responses. Now for my next question what do you wear to a vow renewal? I was gonna have my original wedding gown transformed to look much less formal then it did when I first wore it. Maybe I'm totally wrong and people just wear a nice evening gown. What are your thoughts?

i would wear whatever you feel most comfortable in! if that would be your wedding dress, then so be it!

i think that i will end up buying or making another dress to wear...mine's still a few years off, so i have plenty of time to think about it!

My husband & I are considering renewing our vows this year too. We are married 5 years in September.
I'm wondering though if Disney would be willing to just do a really small private ceremony. Like, just myself my husband and our 7 month old son. No one else would be invited because they wouldn't attend.
We wouldn't need a reception, just a nice small cake...

Dwhittles, absolutely that isn't a problem for them! They can do it for 2 to probably 2000! (not that they have but they probably could)

I am so glad I found this post. I have been wanting to do a VR for our 5th anniversary which will be in 2007 but always saw 10+ years. So glad to know 5 years doesn't seem silly. Unfortunately due to DH father being sick with cancer we had to speed our wedding plans up and I would love to have my "dream wedding" again in Disney. :cloud9:

I also have a few questions about Vow Renewals, if it's ok. I want to do this for our 20th Anniv, which will be in 2007 ~ yes, still a ways away, but when is it appropriate to make contact with someone from DW? (I haven't even requested the info kit yet). Can a vow renewal take place in the wedding pavilion? Are you just "assigned" a coordinator or can you make a specific request? They didn't offer Disney weddings when DH & I got married, so I've been "waiting" all these years for the vow renewal!

Thanks for your help,
Nancy :earsgirl:

Hi Nancy! I am glad to hear you are planning a VR at WDW, they are fantastic! For a 2007 VR I honestly wouldn't bother contacting them until 2006 - they get so many requests that they can't work with you until you are about a year to a year and a half away.

You can definitely to your VR at the Wedding Pavillion, it's a gorgeous location. If you find it isn't right for you they have many other locations you can choose from as well.

As far as your coordinator goes, they generally assign you one based on the locations you have chosen. They accept specific requests but cannot guarantee you being assigned to those people.

I have also sent you a private message!

Checked out that website.....you're right......very helpful!

Thanks again!
