Vow renewal alternative location advice

I am taking my family on a vacation to Disney World next September, and was hoping to surprise my wife with renewing our vows at the same time. However I don't really care to spend 4,000 for a quick ceremony to do this, especially since it is not going to be a large family event. We will be going on our vacation with some friends of ours, who happens to be a pastor. Has anyone ever heard of someone just doing a quick simple ceremony on their own at Disney World, without doing it through Disney? I was thinking of even renting a boat and going out on the lake during the fireworks and renewing our vows then. I know weddings are expensive, and since there is such a high demand to get married at Disney, I understand the high prices. I would just much rather spend my hard earned money by staying at Disney longer, and staying at a Deluxe resort, and doing some of the tours. Any advice is appreciated.

There have been a lot of questions like this in the 2 years I've been on these boards and the short answer is no - you can't have a Disney wedding without going through DFTW. The only option I've heard of is to do it in your hotel room and I guess if you have a big enough room (like a suite or a DVC suite) that would be o.k. Most DVC locations have a balcony overlooking a golf course or water and that could be pretty. If you try to do it in a park or on a boat there, though, and you get caught, they'll kick you out of the park. That would really ruin the moment :scared:

JandJ is right...on Disney property gets really tricky.

However, there are other options!

The Swan and Dolphin have their own wedding/vow renewal packages that might be more cost effective for you.

You can also do a google search for Orlando Weddings and check out some of the options there. I know Leu Gardens is an alternate, off site location. I also know that most of the officiants used by Disney brides (Rev. Jack Day, Rev. Kevin Knox, etc.) do ceremonies all over Orlando. I know you said you didn't need an officiant, but their websites might have information on locations and prices for other options!

Hope that helps!

are you thinking of doing the whole shabang....like dressing up, reception, flowers, etc??

if you just want to have a cruise on the water & just redo your vows with out any special attire & so on....i cant see why that would be an issue...it be just like a proposal

but if you want the whole cake, dress, tux, flowers, reception, etc....the girls are right...DFTW is the route you need to go

i wish they did offer a simpler option for VRs that was cheaper...$4k is alot...maybe more like 1-2k for a basic simple & quick ceremony & then have add ons......maybe some day!!:confused3
