I'm reading about vouchers, but mostly it seemed to be remarks from people who already know the scoop but want more details.

Can anyone fiill me in from the very beginning about vouchers? How do I get them? Where can I use them? How do they save money?

If it is helpful to know, I'll be staying for 6 days at the Dolphin and going to the Disney parks almost every day.

Thanks to all...and sorry...no very sorry...if I am duplicating a question i did not find :)

There are 3 types of meal vouchers you can buy from Connections123. This is a "club" you must join for $79.95/year. (They have other offers that may make it worth your while to be a member.) OR you can join for a trial period of 1 month for $1. You can sign up, order vouchers, then cancel within a month for only $1 fee. (some have posted that the company charged them the $79.95 fee anyway and had to fight to get their money back.)

There are 3 types of vouchers
1. Quick and Casual vouchers for $11.25 - good at selected counter service locations in the parks and at resorts for both lunch and dinner. YOu get a combo meal with drink and dessert.
2. Breakfast feature vouchers for $17.75 - good for selected breakfast locations including character meals. You get one buffet breakfast or juice, main breakfast dish, hot beverage and bakery item.
3. Vacation Kingdom Lunch vouchers for $30.50 - good for selected sit down restaurants in the parks and at resorts for lunch only. You get appetizer, entree, dessert, and non-alcoholic beverage.

These all include TAX and TIP.

My editorials about these:
1. The breakfast vouchers are a good deal for any character breakfast, but especially the princess ones (that are $19.99). Remember the price of the voucher includes tax and tip. You'd have to price it out whether it would be worth it for a non-character breakfast (like at the food court). I haven't checked into that.

2. The Quick and Casuals may or may not save you money. There are some locations where you can really come out ahead (Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club and Pepper Market at Coronado Springs). Most other times you may break even. You have to use them wisely to get the most for your money. Check out the menus and prices on www.wdwig.com to see if you would save money.

3. The Vacation Kingdom Lunch vouchers may or may not save you money. If you eat your big meal of the day at lunch, you might come out ahead. The $30.50 seems like a lot to me for lunch, but if this is your big meal, that might be ok. I personally could never eat all that food myself, so it may be worth it for me if I share with someone. Again, check out the menus and prices at the restaurants to see if you would come out ahead. I have heard of people getting a good deal at Rainforest Cafe, Concourse Steakhouse and LeCellier.

Some people buy these not necessarily to save money, but as a way to prepay for food. I have some that I have purchased with webcertificates that I received in various reward programs. That way it feels like I am "eating for free" or at least cheaply. It also doesn't seem like such a shock when you see that vacation bill at the end of the trip.

All of the prices I listed above are for adults. There are children prices available for the lunch vouchers ($12.75) and the breakfast vouchers ($11).

Also, NEVER buy these off of ebay. They go for WAYYY more than they are worth. You would be better off just paying for the food with cash.

You also need to keep in mind the cost of the membership, if you don't cancel during trial period. They also sell blockbuster cards, restaurant gift cards, six flags gift cards, movie theater gift cards, etc. at a discount of $2 off every $10, for example.

I hope this answers some of your questions.

Wow, this definately helped me out a bunch!!! Thank you so much! Now I get to go and figure out if this will be worth it for me!

Do you know if I join for a trial membership and purchase the vouchers now, will I still be able to use them in December even if not a member?

Thanks,
Krispe:p

Yes, you can still use these after you have cancelled membership.

What hours are the kingdom lunch vouchers good for? I like to eat lunch late.

You might also want to be aware that people's experiences with purchasing these vouchers has varied widely:

About half the people who post about joining Connections report that their transaction was simple, plesant, and correct.

The other half say that they've been overcharged, charged twice, charged again at a later date, etc. It is true that the company seems to change its name frequently (Connections, Simple Escapes, DealPass -- it's all the same company).

I'm not saying join them, I'm not saying don't join them. I'm just saying that I've heard very different opinions of this company.

Don't forget, connections is coming out with a new DINNER voucher that can be used at Hoop de Doo and Calif. Grill. No word on the price yet.

According to a previous post from a former WDW restaurant CM, the waitstaff receive their tips from the vouchers based on the total would-be cost of the meal... this is why staff at Beaches and Cream, for example, are so helpful about recommending the best dining value. The more your meal is worth, the better their tip will be. It's a win-win situation for all.

Counter service restaurants, OTOH, do nothing to help get the best value. I used a Q&C voucher at the Mexico counter service place at WS, and when I asked for extra sour cream, was told "no, that would be an additional side and is not included in your voucher".

IMHO, Beaches and Cream is the very best place to get a huge bang for your buck with the Q&C vouchers. Also good was the RFC at AK for the breakfast vouchers. In both cases we saved a good $10 or more per meal.

There used to be info about Connections vouchers at www.mousesavers.com, but apparently that is no longer available. Perhaps checking out what is posted there would be a good idea before attempting to join Connections.
