I understand I can go to one of the ticket offices and buy an annual pass and get the DVC discount as long as I have my DVC card. I see people talking about using a voucher. Can someone explain what that is and is there an additional discount? When the year is up and you renew the annual pass is there an additional discount or the same DVC price?

If you buy over the phone or online, they send you a voucher, not the actual pass. Kind of a receipt. No extra discount for the voucher. You can also opt to use "will call" which means they don't send you anything, just give a confirmation # (if you want the voucher mailed, there is a mailing fee). Then when you get to WDW, you pickup the actual annual pass and the year starts then.

There is a DVC discount on renewals.

The discount is $100 off the current annual pass price. I assume the renewal would be $100 off the renewal price. FYI. If you pick up your pass at the resort, it is a plastic card resembling a room key. If you get it at the park entrance, it is a paper ticket!

Not really paper, more of a Tyvek-like material. Extremely difficult to tear. I've even washed a few with no problem.

I am really having trouble deciding whether it's better to buy an annual pass or not. It's more to buy three annual passes then a 7 day park hopper for three but I see the renewal would be much cheaper. I'm not sure how many trips we would make every year so I wonder if it would still be a cost saving. We did go twice this year but don't know when we will travel back next year. I wonder if we buy a 7 day and decide to go over to Universal or other site I would be wasting money on a day we spend elsewhere. Anyone?

We purchase the DVC AP and only travel to WDW once a year for 10 days; however, we plan our next year's trip to end brfore the AP expires. This way we get 2 years of trips off one pass. It does save us (family of 6) a significant amount of money.
