Vote For Bush or Die!

The problem however is that words are just words. Kerry's actions while in the Senate of voting against weapons systems and military defense as well as voting to cut the intelligence budget just doesn't lead me to believe that he will support the military and actively defend this country.

I've read the "snipped" version and the full version of the quote. What I got out of it was that if we elect Kerry, will WILL be attacked.

Perhaps some assistance is needed:

Cheney is saying that if we elect Kerry and we're attacked, then the danger is that we'll treat it as a criminal act rather than an act of war.

Pretty transparent to me. Someone would have to be deliberately misreading this to draw any other conclusion.

It could be cleared up very simply if Cheney would simply come out and say that he did not mean that we are more likely to be attacked if Kerry is elected President.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't directing his comments to those who have PhD's in English Lit. He was directing them at those who they hope will fall for scare tactics and couching his words in such a way that he can claim plausible deniability.

No need to speak in the third person.

It all depends on what the meaning of "is" is ;)

If you believe this to be the case, do you think Cheney is a smart man or unintelligent?

Much has been said of intelligence in this campaign and I can't help but wonder if Bush is stupid but surrounds himself with really smart people and smart campaign strategists, what can be concluded about Kerry and the people he has chosen to surround himself with and his campaign strategists?

Cheney is saying that if we elect Kerry and we're attacked, then the danger is that we'll treat it as a criminal act rather than an act of war.

That would be a great explanation, if he had said that. You're adding the "and"....

So, why doesn't he just clear it up and say that he doesn't believe that we're more likely to be attacked if we elect Kerry?

do you think Cheney is a smart man or unintelligent?

He's smart enough to know what message he wants to get across and just exactly the best way to do it.

We will add 40,000 active duty troops

Where will he be getting these troops from exactly?????
Are these the jobs he said he will create?

I wonder if this statement by Kerry was meant to scare us all into voting for him….sounds like we are in big trouble if we don’t get him in the WH. hmmmm...

..a day after the 9/11 Commission Report was released, Kerry issued a statement saying:

“This is a time to act — now. The terrorists will not wait for us, and we must not wait for them. And mark my words — if I am elected president and there has still not been sufficient progress on these issues, I will not wait a single day more. I will lead.”

Kerry shows off his latest “secret” weapon ..to use against the terrorists.
(thank you John)

Oh, please  After the Repugnant convention last week when all we heard was fearfearfear9/11fear9/11fear, that's the best you can come up with ? :rotfl:

The Republicans have nothing to run on, so they're trying to scare everyone into voting for them. Their record is a bad joke, and they know it.

I will never vote for Bush. EVER.

Do you republicans REALLY think the terrorists want Kerry when bush has been so good for their business? That makes no sense...

Thanks for the article damo...

I just don't get it. If the Bush camp is trying to appeal to the religious right (which is a Republican base), why would people be afraid of an attack? Aren't good Christians suppose to go to heaven, a better place? Why are people afraid to die? Just something that has been nagging at me...

The insinuation that can be made from Cheney's comments is bad form, but typical politics. What a sorry state of affairs. I think the whole having to pledge your vote to the Bush ticket before attending a speech is weird, too. What is up with that?

Hmmm. so the Bush is running a "fear" campaign and Kerry is running a ....what? vote for me I served in Vietnam campaign? Talk about not having anything to run on.

What record does Kerry have, exactly. What can we point to that says, "Look what this guy did in 19 years in the Senate!!! Man!!! He should run for President!"?

Why do you have to bring up FDR or Abraham Lincoln?

Well, doesn't this make a wonderful soundbite. As a matter of fact, I may've heard it on one of the various rightwing talk shows a time or two.

Of course, just because you hear something on rightwing radio doesn't make it so or doesn't tell the complete story.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you.

Here's the real story.

Abraham Lincoln served in The Black Hawk War of 1832. He served 3 30-day enlistments which gives him 90 days more war experience than George Bush, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, John Ashcroft, and other Bush administration chickenhawks too numerous to mention.

http://www.geocities.com/old_lead/abe.htm

As for FDR, he was born in 1882. So let's see which wars he could've participated in.

The Spanish-American war occured in 1898 which would make FDR 16 years old at the time. Too young.

The US entered WWI in 1917 which would make FDR 35 years old. Too old. In addition, in 1917, FDR was married and the father of 5 living children with one having died in 1909.

So, it appears that rather than FDR choosing not participate in a war like George Bush, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, John Ashcroft, and other Bush administration chickenhawks too numerous to mention, there was no war when FDR was of the age to participate.

Again, unlike George Bush, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, John Ashcroft, and other Bush administration chickenhawks too numerous to mention.

Because if we make the wrong choice, then the danger is that we'll get hit again, that we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States, and that we'll fall back into the pre-9/11 mind set if you will, that in fact these terrorist attacks are just criminal acts, and that we're not really at war. I think that would be a terrible mistake for us.

Didn't the current administration already make a terrible mistake when they chose to ignore the intelligence warnings about an attack against the US?
Wasn't that the pre 9/11 mindset? Ignore, ignore, ignore-go on vacation, ignore, ignore, ignore.

Because Christians, as well as most people abhor evil. And God tells us to love the life that he has given us.

Why would we not want to eliminate evil? I'm not afraid to die, but I certainly do not want evil to prevail in the world I love.
