Lisa, the same thing happened to me on my last trip to VWL.
i requested close to the elevators, and guess where they put me?
yup, the absolute last room furthest from the elevator.
i think the MS CM who took my requests entered the wrong info on my ressie.
the one time i didn't call back to ask another CM to verify my requests, and they completely got it backwards!

it really was very comical. dbf joked that maybe the room assigner did it on purpose just 'cause they were having a bad day. :p we did get our #1 request granted: non-smoking. whoopee.
oh well, we got a good workout walking to/from our room.

btw, our room was NOT ready when we checked in. we were apparently preassigned that room at the end of the hallway. talk about bad luck.

As far as I'm concerned, if I have waited out 11 months to go on the trip - I can wait the additional 3,4,5 hours to get into the room. Once and only once have I had to wait until 4pm.

I can see where some folks might want to get in early (kids or other considerations) but why should they get the choice of the primo views?

We always arrive early at HH
and go to the beach for the day.

We check periodically to see if the room is ready but know it isn't guaranteed until 4--

hate to bug them by calling to many times.........

This last trip they asked if we would be at the beach house and they called us when it was ready! That seemed so nice --
at the smaller resorts they could have a bulletin board that was updated .......

the following rooms are ready..........
would suggest pagers but don't want to hear the comments about dues price increases!

I'll admit I've had times when I would have taken my room earlier rather than get my requests.....but that was when I had family members who were sick. Actually I've pretty much always gotten my requests....but haven't often had a room ready before 4pm.

I did try to do my best to be polite when checking if our room was ready for the umpteenth time in a day.....often saying "sorry to keep bothering you about this but my dd is sick so we just want to head to our room as soon as its ready"

I guess except for certain circumstances, I'd prefer to get my room requests. But the new system kind of works in that if someone happens to be feeling ill when we check in I could let them know that my priority is getting a room, any room, over my requests....otherwise I can let them know that I don't mind waiting for the room in order to get my requests.

I'm curious to see if this "change" will really effect how often we get our requests met.

I have to chose early check in. We often drive all night and are so tired when we get there waiting for the next few hours to pass is pure torture. I like to be able to get into the room take a nap and shower then head out for a while. I'm not overly pickey about room location, and the only reqest I ever make is non-smoking.

I vote for requests. I never "expect" to check in before 4, but when I can, it is a nice little bonus!
