I find Vons to be a tad more expensive than Kroger/Food 4 Less (or in my neck of the woods, it is Ralphs) in general, but it is worth it when you need things delivered and can't take the time to fiddle with going to the store. (Vons is owned by Safeway, but the online delivery service is all the same thing; in other words, it's not two separate delivery services.) Vons will set up your Club Card account number, and so when you order online, you will get all the same discounts with the Club Card offerings as you would if you went into a Vons/Pavilions/Safeway store. Every now and then, they have some great deals.
In fact, I just had a Vons/Safeway delivery to my home about 4-1/2 hours ago, and got some great deals on water ($4.00 for a 24-pack case of Arrowhead, whereas you can pay almost $4.00 for
one lone bottle of water at DLR!!

) and other items this week - one pound of strawberries was only
79 cents!!!!!!!!! Plus, you can order anything from Vons/Safeway online that you would get in the store, for the most part (unless they are out of stock). This includes flowers/plants, medicines, hygiene products, alcohol, fresh fruits and veggies, juices, eggs, fresh meats, all frozen foods, fresh baked goods (like if you wanted a birthday cake delivered to your hotel, for example, you could have Vons deliver it) and everything in between. Other grocery delivery services I have used have been much more limited. I use a back-up service called Yummy Delivery when I don't have a full $50 worth of groceries to order from Vons, but Yummy Delivery has only about 1/4 of the selection of stuff that Vons/Safeway has.
