Vomiting in the parks?! :(

On our Oct 07 trip some kid threw up on the line for Buzz. People were stepping in it to get on the ride until CMs came to clean it up

It wasn't in the theme parks, but DS threw up on me on the airplane on the way home.

Now he thinks it will be funny if he does it again!

I didn't witness it, but we heard someone throwing up at Cosmic Rays in the bathroom. And all the mom would say is,"Hurry up! My food's getting cold. I didn't pay money for you to come hear and puke."

Just 3 weeks ago, my DD5 had a 12 hour virus, thank goodness the last day of our trip. She lost it right before the Castle show. I rushed her to the right of the stage (where the shelter w/ water fountains). It was clear, but still......w/in 30 seconds a CM had dragged one of those huge potted trees over top of it!
Then later that evening, Yes I took her back out.....
we had just finished eating dinner at Coral Reef, I had just ordered my much looked forward to "WAVE" when she got "the Look". We started quickly towards the bathroom. Didn't make it. She lost it right in front of the hostess stand. Right in front of all those poor people waiting to be seated.
Thankfully, it was clear. Nothing too gross.
Before I could even get to the bathroom they had the kitty litter on it.:thumbsup2

When dd was a year old we were getting ready to go to the parks on the morning of New Year's Day. She wasn't acting like herself in the hotel room that morning but we just put it off to the fact that we had already been going to the parks for a few days and had been really busy and it was catching up to her. Well we were on the monorail on our way to the Magic Kingdom, actually coming from Epcot(we had planned on going back there later in the day) and she threw up all over me. Luckily it only stayed on me(so typical of a mother to try and catch it) but boy did we stink. Needless to say, we went back to our hotel and let her sleep and after her nap she was fine. We ate dinner that night off-property and just added a day to our trip in the end. So I don't know if it was food poisoning or what but it was memorable. It was the 1st time she had ever thrown up, the 1st time on the monorail, on New Year's Day.

My friend's son threw up after lunch in that fast food place in the Land pavillion (Sunshine Seasons?). He was just too worked up and running in the heat too much and having more fun that a 3 year old thought was possible. I said, "I told you so" because I'd said that if he says he doesn't want to eat, then he doesn't want to eat, leave him be. He can eat later. But noooo. Mom made him eat.

We cleaned it up and kept going. She's a nurse, her husband is a nurse (formerly a medic), I'm a nurse - a little vomit doesn't bother us at all. :)

I offer tours of all the trees and bushes I heaved in when I was pregant with my son... :rolleyes1

I dont think any of my kids have thrown up at WDW, but we did have a potty training mishap once. :lmao:

And I have seen other's throw up, maybe 3 times in 20 trips. :dance3:

When I was working at the Star Tours gift shop a few years ago a little boy threw up on the floor in front of my register. Not sure if he was actually sick or if the ride had made him sick. We called to get the "protein spill" cleaned up and our manager helped him pick out a free Darth Vader tshirt to change into:thumbsup2

We were on BTRR and there was an older couple behind us..the old man was making those pre-vomit noises and burping alot, his wife kept telling him it would be over soon..I thought we were going to get sprayed by him so we ducked very low, as low as we could go, in our seat and prayed the ride ended soon....

As soon as the ride ended we booked it as fast as we could, if I hear or see or smell someone vomit I start vomiting.

YES i was making a drink run down to the everthting POP and there were a bunch of student in the food court. jusat about as i was to go into the store the girl in fronted of me lost her cookies. needless to say i didn't want my drink after all of that

A few years ago we were at LTT having dinner. We had a very enthusiastic waiter, Raymond. My DNephew has a VERY sensitive stomach and gag reflex and he's super particular about what he eats. At this time he was 5 or 6. Well, he hadn't eaten any potatoes because he doesn't like them. Raymond was teasing him throughout the meal that he needs to eat all of his food, etc. Now, you can't tease this kid. He has no sense of humor. My DSis kept saying things like "Oh it's ok. He doesn't need to eat it". Finally Raymond picked up the forked and kiddingly tried to force feed DNephew mashed potatoes. Well, his face went green and that was the end of it.

I have to say the next twenty minutes or so was surreal. My DSis took DNephew's shirt off him (for obvious reasons). We were trying to figure out what to do when the manager came over literally freaking out because he couldn't be in the restaurant with no shirt. Ummm...right...totally agree...but you pick between a 6 year old belly or a vomit covered shirt. He said he'd get a shirt for him, which took quite a while (which is understandable...I realize that someone had to go to a shop, etc.). Meanwhile, NO ONE came to clean the table and the characters kept coming, so my DD and DNiece got their photos taken while poor DNephew waited. We have pictures of the girls and characters with the table piled high with our napkins, which we used to cover the spill. I wonder how long it took them to start cleaning up. It had to be at least 20-30 minutes before we left and it was still there.

It wasnt on a ride, but a bout of food poisioning. And I had it good too.....we got up, went to the MK, I felt fine...nothing out of the ordinary. While at the MK, I felt queasy and I told DH I needed to head back to the room. So we hopped a bus back to POR (dixie landings at the time). We were on the bus and my top lip started sweating! :scared1: That is a good sign that Im about to get sick. Well, I prayed and PRAYED not to go on the bus...so we got off and there I went, right in the bushes at the bus stop. :headache: I was so mortified! I know people were staring and probably thinking....."that woman must be drunk or something, getting sick at 8am!!" :rotfl2: It was so awful...then to make matters worse, it started coming out the "other way" before I got in the room!!! I was vomitting and had diarehha AT THE SAME TIME ...so I had it both ways, just terribly sick. For the next TWO days at the happiest place on earth, me and DH stayed in our room with my terrible sickness. He went to the food court, went and got me pepto, immodium, and juices. I felt so bad for him too,:guilty: cause all he got to do was watch TV and walked back and forth to the food court. I just layed in bed and vomitted and well..you know the other. Then the 3rd and final day, I was ok enough to walk around the parks. I couldnt ride anything, so we just walked and I drank water.
Needless to say, that was a DO-OVER trip! Oh, and if anyone is wondering what could of possibly made me sick....:scratchin I THINK it was a roast beef from Arbys near Ocala.....because that is the only thing I ate on the way to Orlando. HHmmm..I dont eat Arby's anymore! LOL:lmao: :worried:

This thread has evolved and has become a thread best suited to the ThemeParks Community Board.

I'll be moving this one there. :)

Thanks,

In my past WDW trips, I have not seen or heard anyone get sick in the parks on in the hotel. That said, I would imagine that MOST of the people that DO get sick at the parks are probably kids. Kids get sick ALL THE TIME. Probably, what causes it is change in eating patterns, too much excitement, too much sun, too little water, too much running/walking around, and, really, absolutely no reason at all. Kids are kids, and they just 'get sick'. Any little thing can tip them off. I wouldn't worry about kids getting sick on you or you getting sick. Most of the time, if someone gets sick there, it's not because they have the flu or food poising... it's probably caused by something that could have been prevented.

SO, if you're worried about getting sick (like I always am... horrible phobia we share eh?) this is what I do...

-I take a Bonine (like Dramaine...) every day of my trip
-Drink lots of water
-Keep my hands clean with hand sanitizer (to keep the cold bugs away too) and avoid touching my face, eyes, nose, mouth
-Take PROBIOTICS!!!! These you can get in pill form or through yogurt to help keep your tummy and intestine's good bacteria healthy and warding off the bad stuff!!! :thumbsup2
-Eat sensibly. Sure you're on vacation, but don't overdo it, or you WILL feel bad. Even if you are 'walking it off'... you can only run on Fried things so long...
-Take breaks from the sun (yay for CoP and SE!!! get you in to some air conditioning for a good break period!!)
-Take care of yourself!! Have fun, but listen to your body!! :worship:

If there's anything else other people do to keep 'feeling good' on their trip, I'm sure we'd all love to hear your suggestions!!

I'm of the type where if I see it, I do it. If I see someone throw up, I throw up. It grosses me out more than anything but goose poo (if you live in an area invaded by these nasty creatures, you know what I'm talking about).

I've (thankfully) never experienced it at Disney, but on our flight home from Fort Lauderdale last year, there was a toddler who threw up and cried the entire ride from FLL to Chicago (literally). And the parents made no attempt to take him to the bathroom or anything. It's bad enough flying through a tropical storm and then a thunder storm (after a five-hour flight delay, no less)...but a three hour flight of a toddler puking and crying the entire time? ::shudder:: I'm hoping for a better flight next time.

But here is a tip courtesy of my GI doctor: if you or your child are feeling nauseated, take a medication with simethicone in it (simethicone is an anti-gas that has the nifty feature of also being an anti-nausea pill). You can find it in pills, strips that melt on your tongue, chewies...anything. Gas-X, Maalox, Walgreens brand...I like the Gas-X strips because they don't require water and they're individually packaged and small so they're easy to carry.
