If you haven't heard, 10 minutes before the evening parade is a Volunteer Cavalcade. They select volunteers who are in the park to be in this mini parade.

I was lucky enough to be chosen and it was so much fun to be in a Disney parade!

So here's what you need to do, about an hour before the cavalcade time that is listed on the time guide, head for it's a small world. As you face iasm, to your right is the stroller parking. Over in this area is where they were picking people to join the parade. You will see the parade people dressed in brightly colored construction costumes. Just go up to them and tell them you would like to be in the parade. If they still have room, they take you up to the front of the park. Also, you MUST have your volunteer pin on or you are not eligible.

After the volunteer parade, they have roped off a VIP area for the volunteers to view the parade.

I am interested but what is a Volunteer pin? What do the Volunteers do? Clear the path for the real parade?

So, you just to SM stroller parking and volunteer?

I believe you get the pin when you redeem you GAD voucher for volunteering in your community.

OK..well I am not a GAD guest... so I will just move along...

My friend and I got to do this last month we were on the Kermit and Piggy float was cool. You can also catch the cast members going up on down Main Street. I was sitting in the one area facing Tomorrow Land and caught them coming out that way. They're really not hard to miss. And if only one person in your party has a Volunteer button you can ask them if some of your party can join too. My friend had a volunteer button I didn't but they let me participate still so she wouldn't have to do it herself. They actually gave me a button to wear when we filled out forms.

I definitely also suggest people to try if they can and get in. You also get a group picture with the cast members when its over. :)

Hi TechGuy,

I hope you check back here and see this.

Disney has been running a promotion that involves volunteering in your own community through an organized procedure of signing up, etc.... After someone completed their volunteerism, they received a "Give-a-Day Get-A-Disney-Day" voucher to redeem at DLR for free admission to the Park for the day.

These individuals also got a Volunteer button (that 3Minnies1Mickey referenced above). If you volunteered through this program (GAD, for short), you could be in the pre-parade Volunteer Cavalcade that cruisindisney described in the first post of this thread.

They are not volunteering to clear the parade route or anything else at Disneyland. They are being honored by Disney for their volunteer service. :goodvibes

Hope this helps answer your question,
Dreams :wizard:

Thanks for reporting about this = sounds like fun! Where was the roped off section for parade viewing? Was it a good spot to watch from and was it wide enough that everyone could see well? I really want to video tape the parade and don't want to be behind a lot of heads.

I'm traveling with a 4 year old who was too young to volunteer. All of the adults have GAD pins. Anyone know if a young child can join in? (Can't very well leave the kid alone on the parade route and say "see you after the parade"!!!)

The special viewing area is across from it's a small world pretty much near end of parade route. It's a lot room. In fact when we did it a lot of people didn't stay for the actual parade so was a big space.

And your 4 year old should be able to join. They have these cars that you all can sit in since I'm sure he wouldn't be able to do the float. And when we did it there were some little kids. So I think should be okay.

Just to let everyone know. They didn't take people who ran up to them as we walked down the street. They told them that they had enough people. So I guess it depends on how many people show up at the iasm area.

If you really want to be in the parade, I would go to iasm.
