Saw this on twitter and CNN and thought that I would share it here:

The affected brands include: Tylenol Infants' Drops, Children's Tylenol Suspensions, Children's Tylenol Plus Suspensions, Motrin Infant Drops, Children's Motrin Suspensions, Children's Zyrtec Liquids in Bottles and Children's Benadryl Allergy Liquids in Bottles.

Good gravy, seems like every time you turn around, kids' meds are being recalled for one reason or another! :sad2:

:scared1: Thanks for posting this (just checked our meds, guess it's a good thing I buy generic LOL).

I have several bottles of the recalled Tylenol. The website doesn't say anything about a refund. Are the generic brands included too? I have some CVS brand tylenol/motrin and also Walgreens.

Jeez. Why can't these companies, whether it be cribs or medicines, make a QUALITY product that is safe ALL the time?!!

I love how they're very vague about what the problem is. Supposedly, according to the McNeil website, there may be 'particles' in the meds. Particles of WHAT?!! :scared1:

I buy generic too, looks like that is a good thing.

Oye.

Thanks for posting this. I just checked my mediciine cabinet and I have Tylenol, Motrin, and Benadryl products that are on the recalled list.

from the release:
Some of the products included in the recall may contain a higher concentration of active ingredient than is specified; others may contain inactive ingredients that may not meet internal testing requirements; and others may contain tiny particles

Warning: Benedryl is included in this recall too!

I'm horrified, we keep benedryl on hand for allergic reactions. If it contains inactive ingredients then it's not going to help when absolutely needed. The one listed is dye-free, sugar-free bubblegum flavor (yes, the one I buy and keep several places in the house, cars and diaper bag).

Does anyone know...

Are these products to be returned to where I bought them? Sent back to company that made them? Just thrown away? When will replacement products be available? We use Zyrtec daily for allergies!

I can't seem to get any answers beyond they've been recalled. The phone number to the manufacturer will cut you off b/c of high call volume and I can't seem to find the "answers" they say are on their site about what to do beyond discontinue use. SO mad...my 6 month old DD has had 5 doses of Tylenol since Thursday b/c she is teething!!!

thanks OP! I have the Motrin suspension being recalled and I also note they don't say anything about a refund. I called the 888# and got disconnected because of heavy call volume....I'll be calling again and again to see what they say.

I just got through. I waited maybe 5 minutes on hold. I can't say that I got a lot of information, but I did talk to them. I have a bottle of kids Zyrtec that I give my 2 year old everyday for allergies. I also have a box of unopened infant Tylenol drops that I bought on sale to have on hand for the baby we are expecting in July. The lady took the NDC number, lot number, and expiration date from both containers. She said not to give them anymore. She said they are sending me a postage paid envelope to return the products to them for further analysis, and they will send me a refund for them. She said they did not know when new replacement products would be available and that I should contact our doctor about alternative treatments in the meantime. She also said if I noticed any effects or issues to contact our doctor or the FDA. She offered me contact information for them.

These products were both purchased in the US. She did not ask me about that and took all the information from both bottles and said they are part of the recall. I didn't see the pp's post about distribution until after I talked to them, so I didn't ask.

Thanks for posting. I keep getting disconnected b/c of high call volume. I wish some of this info was on their website!

Do you mind if I share what you learned on my Facebook page? I have several friends who are sharing these concerns.

Thanks for posting this! I just had DD12 bring me all the bottles from the medicine cabinet. All 4 (Benadryl, Children's Tylenol Plus Cold, Motrin, & Children's Tylenol) in the cabinet are on the list. DS4 has a stuffy nose and I've given him some OTC meds over the last few nights to help him sleep. Guess DH is going to have to make a Trimatic run this afternoon. Least nothing bad has happened to DS, so I'm even more thankful for that!

Side note-Anyone know what they are going to do? Do I just toss the bottles and the $$$? We, like everyone else, are watching the pennies and this stuff is not cheap by any means!

Feel free to share what I was told with your friends.

I posted it to my FB too. I told DH and he says, how old is I didn't hear anything. Today Big Guy, it is posted May 1, 2010 on CNN...:sad2:

Since it isn't making the news yet, I figured I would post it on FB. After all how many of us keep that stuff on hand? If my kids need it I have it available...
