Volo vs Triumph

Can someone please give me some information, from a parents point of view, on the difference between the Volo and Triumph and your reason for chosing one over the other. We live in an area where I cannot view these strollers in person and can only buy them on-line. I would love someones opinion. I currently have a 1.5 year old DD who is almost 30 lbs and a 4.5 year old. Does the stroller "sit up" enough? My others seems to lean back to much and make my DD very frustrated. We fly often so this stroller could take a beating.

Thanks.

Yes, I believe they sit up plenty. The big difference in the two is the Triumph reclines and the Volo doesn't. That was the reason I choose the Triumph over the Volo. DS is a stroller sleeper. Triumph also comes with a rain cover which I don't think is included with the Volo.

This is DS at 23 months and about 28 (maybe 30) pounds.

If it doesn't seam to sit up enough for your DD you could always take the BIG diaper bag and wedge it behind the seat back and the stroller frame to sit it up even more. Once in a while if I didn't get the diaper bag down in the basket all the way DS would let me know... ;)

I have the triumph, so I can't comment on the Volo, but it seems to "sit up" enough to me. As a previous poster said, I also bought it because it reclines and the Volo doesn't...my kids are both stroller nappers. I just love this stroller!

To the OP - do you have Target?? Target carries the volo now, just in one color, but you can 'test drive' their floor model around the store to get a feel for it, and then order the one you want online. We got both our volos at Target in Iowa.......

Yes, we do have a Target. The volo was sold out when I went to test drive it. I will try the one on the other side of town. Am I correct to assume that the main feature difference between the two is the ability to lay back the seat?

Has anyone purchased the "travel bag" to put the stroller in when flying/traveling with it?

Thanks for all the information. :)

We chose the Triumph for the recline and the padded back. The Volo isn't padded, it's like a thick mesh. The Triumph seemed more comfortable. DD sits up high and sleeps great when reclined.

the 2007 and 2008 volos DO come with a rain cover. 2006 does not (if you're buying on ebay).

the one at target has an all mesh seat which is different from the other volos. if you don't wasnt the full mesh seat, i would test out the regular volo at a babiesrus if there's one nearby. the seat is a lightweight fabric with a mesh cut-out area. they also come in various colors.

the differences i saw between the volo and triumph are the seat padding, reclining (it doesnt recline alot), and the shape of the sunshade. our kids will be 4 and 2 on our trip, so we went with the volos. we have used them several times since they arrived and they really like them.

I bought the Volo because it was cheaper and I had a little stroller addiction there for a while. My son will nap in his Volo even though it doesn't recline. On our last Disney trip we brought our beat up Peg Aria thinking it has a deep recline so he would nap. He would not nap at ALL!!!!! So this time I figured, why not bring the stroller I really like? LOL.

I went with a quest, no volo mainly because of the recline issue. My son is also a stroller napper and we needed a recline. He is now 5, 45 inches and 42 lbs and still enjoys it for disney, fits fine. I do think the padding would be more comfortable too where the volo has none, but the mesh might be great for the beach and or if it got wet.

We don't have a bag yet but I plan on purchasing the one from walmart (red gate check), my understanding is the mac's fit in them fine.

Not an issue w/ your age child but for future...

my 5yr old boy is too tall for the Volo w/ the hood up. His head just sits about an inch to inch and half away from the top of hood.

I have the Quest and love it. I might get another Triumph or Quest for the 2nd kiddo. I've heard the Triumph seat is more shallow but I don't know that for sure yet.

there must be dozens upon dozens of Mac stroller threads on the boards lately! I am tempted to call Maclaren and ask if they know what huge supporters we all are!

I did actually talk with a Croc representative a few days back and she LOL when I told her what huge fans disboarders where. Then she priority shipped me something for free! sweet heart of girl.

back to macs. We have volos. Our kiddos where just 2 and 4 last trip. Both napped every day in them comfortably. I still believe the volo seat is deeper than the other models.

going back next week with DDalmost3 and DS5 with both volos. DS5 fits fine in his volo and his head clears the hood no problem. He is 43 and 3/4 inches tall (I know, boo hoo no 44 in rides) and around 45 pounds.

I used red gate check bags from walmart on line. The airlines thanked me and said they love to get strollers at gate check in these bags. One bag got greased up on one leg of flight pretty good (but my stroller was fine) other bag only has slight marks on it. So definitely worth it.

My 2007 did not come with a rain cover. My 2008 model did. our hoods/sunshades are huge on both. we do have mixed material seats. mesh and cloth. The mesh is very nice in the heat and yes, it dries quickly.

m2cents.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 2007 and the 2008 triumph. Did they make enough changes to spend the extra $$$ for the 2008. When I googled it the prices of the 2007 were much cheaper.:confused3

Another question:
We've got DS who's 5mos and DS 5yrs (he's 55lbs)- I know the volo could carry either (supposedly?) but I'd like the reclining option of the triumph - does anyone know if the weight limits are the same on both strollers?
I'm think the triumph might be more multipurpose for us???

ProfJenn, I believe that all of the Mac's have the 55lb weight limit (the Triumph definitely does), except there is a larger Mac with a 65lb limit. Since you have a real little one I would go with one of the reclining models. The Triumph's recline is slight, but I think the quest has a full recline (of course it's quite a bit more money too). The Triumph has a bit more padding and support than the Mac. My 4 year old really did not like the Volo, he thought there was not enough support even for him. He's pretty sensitive though! :rotfl:

lovepooh, I think the main difference between the 2007 and 2008 is color choices. Also, the 2008 Triumph does not come with the rain cover (that was a surprise to me! But my boys were already in love with the color I bought). I'm pretty sure the rest is the same. There are some good prices on Ebay for the 2007 model. Also, this week there are 15% off coupons in store at Babies R Us, if you have one near you.

Hope that helps!

thanks nrod, I'm going to go with the 2007 model. I need to get two and I can't justify spending the extra money. We don't have a babies r us near us but I did look on e-bay and found some good deals.

We bought our triumph at BJs for $120, which was about $30 less than babies r us, if that's an option for you...
