Volcano Bay preferred seating - most shade?

We are making our first trip (yay!). We are getting preferred seating to have a place to meet up and escape from the sun. I understand that the shades on those chairs don't really help with the afternoon sun though, so I was interested to know if there are shadier locations that I may be able to choose?

Is there an area of preferred seating that is also under trees, for example?

Thanks!

(Cabanas are too $$$$ for us - $700+ for our trip dates!)

If you are only getting it for shade, you may want to reconsider. There are actually a lot of chairs under permanent shade structures throughout the park. We went for the first time last Labor Day weekend and I debated getting the preferred seating so we would have shade. Then I found out about the shade structures and decided not to get them. I was glad I didn't spend the money for it. You should have no trouble getting a spot in the shade if you are planning to get there for early entry or at regular opening. We went down the sidewalk to the left of the wave pool and there is a shaded area near the base of the volcano where 2 of the volcano slides come out. It was a nice quiet spot kind of hidden away that gave us shade all day. If you do get the preferred seats and just want a break in the shade, the restaurant to the left of the Volcano had lots of shaded seating.
