Planning on Going August 4th through the 10th. Are the Volcano bay Express passes worth it and if so, do I need the full express pass or is the limited one enough? Basically are the rides not included on the cheaper fast pass going to be 3 hour waits?

Along that line, do I still need to get their super early if I get the express pass to have a seat?

Waiting to hear responses on this, I am "thinking" the lower level pass. I imagine Tapu Tapu like normal on the higher level rides, and use lower level ride Express in between. That way, it feels like Express for everything.

Not sure that will work, and it might add a lot of walking back and forth, hope an VB Vet will chime in!

I was about to bump this. The main thing is are the rides still 3 hour waits. If yes, then it might not work if the 4 rides not included on the lower are going to take 12 hours. Also, my big concern is if you have to be there at 8am to get a seat, then i might as well just get there early, do the rides before there are lines and save the money. If I can stroll in at 9am, get a seat and use the pass then it won't be too bad, but I read horror stories of not being able to use the lazy river etc as the park gets too crowded.

Unfortunately, I don't really know what the waits are for those 4 rides this summer. We went last summer and opening weekend, when everything was insane. Plus, the Express Pass then had an unlimited option, so we didn't really pay attention to the wait times. If you get there during early entry, then you can be sure to add least ride those 4 without much wait.

Yes the issue really is, if you need to get there at 7:30am, then I don't really need express passes. I'd rather stroll in at 9am and just use express if its possible. Also what happens if you buy express and it starts raining and they close the park?

I think you are out of luck then. I don't know for sure, but if it hits capacity, I think they would refund the Express Pass or let you in. I know they are letting people with cabanas reserved in, even if the park hits capacity.

EDIT: You don't need to get there early to get a seat, but the rides can get busy. There are usually plenty of free seats available all day.
