...ok guys. Flame suit is on, I'm ready. :wave2: :firefight

I don't know about you, but it bothers me that VoL is adding non-patriotic songs to their rep. To me, it breaks the character of the pavilion. (Not to mention that Frozen takes place in Norway, but that's another story.) I think the Dapper Dans should do this instead of VoL.... what do you all think?

I have to agree, directly because of the location of the VoL show.

If (when) they are not performing in the American Adventure, they can sing anything at all
(and sound GREAT, too!)

Maybe they're trying to appeal to include a younger audience. On a different note, I now go to sleep humming Let it Go because my daughter walks around singing it 24/7. :upsidedow

Going to see/listen to VoL is my favorite thing in EPCOT, I sure as heck hope I don't hear that song when I'm there in 2 weeks. That song is not at all from the genre "Americana". *Grumble, grrr, grumble, mumble*

::yes:: :thumbsup2

When I think of V of L, I think of more traditional american music.

They are trying something new. But I wish this was being done by somebody else (the Dapper Dans)

Still in all VOl version will send chills down the spine. They could sing the phone book and I would probably enjoy it.

Agree. I know that Frozen is popular but VoL? Really? Disappointed.

It doesn't fit here at all. This just reeks of someone trying to get "Frozen" out there at any expense possible.

I agree. And just so this does not turn into a "Frozen" bash, I object equally to the singing of “You Raise Me Up,” “True Colors,” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow" while at the AA Pavilion as well.

(Not to mention that Frozen takes place in Norway, but that's another story.)
And by the way.....it is never mentioned or suggested that Arendelle is in Norway, is it? Could be any Scandanavian country. Or a purely fictitious place. So the notion that all things "Frozen" should be based in Norway isn't entirely accurate.

Agree. They should stick to the theme of the American Adventure. I might be old fashioned, and perhaps patriotism hasn't been "popular" for a while, but Walt Disney always kept a proper separation between commercialism and patriotism. We don't need to "fun" up everything and make it current. This pavilion is themed to America and a specific time period during the country's founding, as are the costumes.

Singing more modern songs, especially "Let It Go," is an anachronism that violates Walt Disney's principle of "show."

If it was *just* "Let It Go", I wouldn't be happy, but I'd have hope that maybe it would go away when the Frozen hype died down. But that link seems to indicate that LIG is just the vanguard of a move toward less traditional, more popular songs in general:

New songs guests may hear during their daily shows include “You Raise Me Up,” “True Colors,” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Blech. Just...no. VoL are one of my favorite attractions at Epcot. I really do NOT want to have to listen to them doing Josh Groban...ugh.

I think it's fine. I'm sure they sound awesome. It is an American song ;)

I kind of see the reasons why it's not a great idea either. I think as long as it's at the end it's ok.

So is "Dude Looks Like A Lady", but I don't need to hear VoL sing it at the AA Pavilion. (Or anywhere else for that matter.)

Damn! Now that song is stuck in my head! You are evil JimmyV, evil I tell ya!

I hope they sing it while I'm in Epcot next month! Everyone in my party would love to hear it! :)

As a Brit visiting and hearing VoL for the first time last summer, I really enjoyed the choir and the traditional American songs that they so beautifully sung. I couldn't even watch much more than the first few bars of Let It go sung by them...no, just no. N. O!

I don't think they specifically say, although I think that some of the buildings in the movie are very similar to the Stave church in Norway. I definitely get the impression is that is some Scandanavian kingdom and since Norway is the only Scandanavian country in World Showcase, it all gets lumped together. I'm not a fan of VOL doing contemporary music, but I don't like the new CM outfits at the AA pavillion either.

Frozen is great, don't get me wrong. I'm feeling like Disney is going a bit wild with this one. Sing alongs, parades, fireworks, rumors of maelstrom turning into a frozen ride....ugh

I hope this is a thing that will pass.

Voices of Liberty are a gem in disney parks. I hear them every time I go (except this spring when it was a jazz group; pictures in my trip report). Them adding on Let it Go is a bit much. When you wish upon a star, yup. I'm in. Let's not make them a jukebox for the current disney hits.

Ugh… they sound great, but I agree it has no place here. I prefer to listen to all-Americana songs while in the AMERICAN Adventure.
