Does anyone have something like this or know anything about it? I need to purchase one and I know nothing about them. I need it to be compatible with a Dell laptop.

THANKS!

Do you me voice recognition/transcription software? DW uses Via Voice on her Dell laptop. It works well. She can use her voice to direct windows to do some things but mostly she uses it in MS Office applications to dictate letters and other documents.

Dragon Naturally Speaking seems to be the one used most in the educational environments. I know it needs to be trained to your voice and speech patterns. The older version had you read several passages into the microphone to train the system. One thing I've heard is it is worth the money to get a headset.

My DH's company and my school uses JAWS software for our visually impaired students/coworkers. The JAWS software enables students to use computers by voice commands. (ie= "open file", etc.)

Thanks guys! You've pointed me in some good directions! :teeth:

I've heard JAWS is the best around and since we have a blind assembler at work, I've seen (heard) it in action. Amazing stuff.
