I have recently been contacted by a few pals who had some helpful hints to make this round run smoother. I wanted to share these as well as repost the rules.

What I have learned:
I started my pal off with a small gift for her and family. I found it cost me more to mail by 2x then the cost of the gift. I found it was more reasonable to order from a web page because shipping was so much cheaper.
Send package early, a 5 day delivery means 5 - 7 business days, sometimes more. I know that my gift was in my pals hands several days before the due date. I was able to enjoy her response to the gift rather than worry when it would arrive.
You can pick up post cards about your state and drop a note to your pal. An cute way to stay in contact and a nice little surprise for the pal.
Message twice a week if you can. Tell pal if you know you are going to me away more than a few days. It gives you something special to talk about and let's them know not to expect a note from you.
I sent poems about friendship, notes on why my pal made me smile or a joke of the day.
Make your pal messages clear so that your pal knows what is going on, and knows what the messages are about and how to contact you.
Now for those dreaded rules
PLEASE read these carefully and if you cannot comply, message me to remove you from the round. I want to see happy Zetas running around, not pals who don't feel loved.
1. Treat your pal how YOU want to be treated! Put that good Karma out there.
2. Contact your pal TWICE a week. This can be done via email (hotmail or yahoo free accounts work great for this), PMs (assumed ID), or e-cards or snail mail. There are so many ways to contact a pal there should be NO reason NOT to.
3. There is one gift that must be sent. Dollar amount of between $20-$25. Nothing to break the bank. This gift MUST go out PRIOR to Devember 12. Once your gift has gone out, please send me a PM so that I can watch for the receipt of it via your pal.
4. If for any reason there is a problem, LET ME AND YOUR PAL KNOW! Don't just leave everyone in limbo and guessing as to why they hear nothing. We all understand that stuff happens in real life. We're all friends, at least I would like to think we are, so please let us know if you can't continue in the program or if there is some reason you will be gone.
5. To second rule #4, if for any reason your pal is not being contacted regularly and there has been no contact, pals will be reassigned and people will be dropped from the program. This program is in place to spread the *sprinkle, sprinkle* of Zeta/Dis Magic. I will do whatever I can to be sure that the magic happens.
6. Most of all....HAVE FUN!! This is your chance to make a new friend, or get to know someone better. Let your pal into your life. Talk about that great book you read, or how you are craving that Dole Whip. Let them know that you hate gardenia scented anything, but would heart to have some holiday ornaments. Your pal can spoil you best when they are let in to your world.

) and then I went to the kitchen to get a drink and come back. Of course, I was too lazy to turn on the kitchen light and rammed my ankle into one of my wrought iron dining room chairs. Much yelling and crying ensued, but with some ice and Advil all is well (but still a little tender and bruised) this morning......valuable lesson: Never think you you walk the gauntlet of your house in the dark. Kids leave ****ytraps!
