Does anyone know what the VMK army is? My friend and I were approached in Central Plaza today and asked to join. Is this a kids' thing or is it older folks like us?? It was kind of weird!!
If this has already been discussed here, please direct me to the thread??!
Thanks,

I popped into an Army room the other night just to see what they were doing there. There were players dressed in all green, lined up in front of their 'drillmaster' and taking commands. :sad2: Needless to say, I was not the most popular player in the room when I sat down and told them I (being my opinion!) didn't agree with what they were doing. Maybe I was being to sensitive, but I told them I didn't think it was right to make light of what the military is going through. Having a good friend serving in Iraq, I just didn't like what I saw, and asked them to consider the feelings of the families and friends of those who are serving..
Bottom line, it certainly does not belong on a Disney game board, and that as well, is JMO!

I have not seen a thread here. I asked some guy yesterday and he said he was the army reject or something like that because he didn't play any of the games. He said he got prizes for recruiting people. I asked him what the purpose was and he restated that he was the army reject so he didn't know anything about what the army did. :confused3

Not discussed here yet. But I read elsewhere that the initial "armies" were groups of people who would go into a room and threaten violence to the occupants unless they left. Obviously, this was not taken well by the VMK staff.

So those "armies" were replaced by "peace armies" and "party armies." The word is that the VMK will tolerate any of these so long as they do not harrass or threaten.

On the one hand, I think that they misuse the word "army" and might as well be called "gangs", with all the connotations that that entails. (Some of the "armies" were requiring members to wear red, and others blue. Just what we needed.)

On the other hand, I've certainly thought of a particular group of harmless hoodlums as the "Central Plaza Gang", even though that word is not approved.

And, thanks to our culture, kids do play "cops + robbers" (on this board, should I say "space rangers vs. the sworn enemies of the galactic alliance, or lost boys vs. pirates?), so a bunch of kids playing army is not that suprising.

Well, so long as they don't talk violence to those not playing in their "game"...

I was approached three different times last night. One became very rude when I said no!!!
