Does anyone know what the VMK army is? My friend and I were approached in Central Plaza today and asked to join. Is this a kids' thing or is it older folks like us?? It was kind of weird!!
If this has already been discussed here, please direct me to the thread??!
Thanks,

Not discussed here yet. But I read elsewhere that the initial "armies" were groups of people who would go into a room and threaten violence to the occupants unless they left. Obviously, this was not taken well by the VMK staff.
So those "armies" were replaced by "peace armies" and "party armies." The word is that the VMK will tolerate any of these so long as they do not harrass or threaten.
On the one hand, I think that they misuse the word "army" and might as well be called "gangs", with all the connotations that that entails. (Some of the "armies" were requiring members to wear red, and others blue. Just what we needed.)
On the other hand, I've certainly thought of a particular group of harmless hoodlums as the "Central Plaza Gang", even though that word is not approved.
And, thanks to our culture, kids do play "cops + robbers" (on this board, should I say "space rangers vs. the sworn enemies of the galactic alliance, or lost boys vs. pirates?), so a bunch of kids playing army is not that suprising.
Well, so long as they don't talk violence to those not playing in their "game"...
