Well put. And the teddy bear thing made it all even just weirder and more.....disturbing. Nothing shocks me and in the grand scheme of things this isn't a big deal to me at all, but it was just odd.

Her hair was horrible as well, the shaved look is just gross to me. Everything about it was just gross. I don't really get why people think its such a good idea to be over the top sexually explicit like that, to me its just a total turn off. Its not sexy, its just really really weird.

And I agree about Lady Gaga, I love her, even though I think some of the things she does are dumb as well, but for the most part she is a very talented artist that can write really well, she is not just a singer. Her over the top stuff doesn't even make me blink, but with Miley, its almost like she was just trying to be like Gaga or Madonna or something and just had a major fail. It looked like a little girl that finally got away from mom and dad and can go wild now, but overall it was just weird and disturbing in a sense.

I don't have a problem with Miley, the video or the song. She just looked stupid last night. She's a horrible dancer and as I said before, seems to try way too hard sometimes.

Now there are some that missed the boat on talent--Kanye West is one. While I like some of his music, I think the talent is more with the folks in the recording studio than with Kanye.

I disagree with this. Kanye is incredibly talented...he was a music producer first and has produced incredible tracks and made some of the best lyrics I've ever heard.....BUT he is also a complete nutcase now and has lost all sense of reality, so I'm not really a fan.

Anyway, I agree with most of the others. I'm pretty open minded about "sexy" shows on the VMA's, etc. but this was just about 10% too far...the microphone "down there", the finger, the dry humping...just too much, but again,it's all about publicity as she is now an attention *****.

I agree to a point: as I said earlier, I think that those three ought to be ashamed of themselves--above and beyond the Miley stuff, all the women in that performance were half dressed, while they remained totally clothed and spent the whole time leering and crowing about how hot and important they were.

However, I think that Miley is a willing partner in the grotesque objectification, and I'm not giving her a pass on that one. Lady Gaga celebrates her active sexuality; Miley Cyrus gives the constant impression that the only thing she is worth is her ability as a sex object. In my mind, the former is empowering, the latter is not.

Okay, just watched... OMG!!! what a hot mess!

Here is my take...
Yes, Miley is trying WAY to hard.
And, she is not that talented.

But, you know what... I am not going to go all
And, I am not going to be all that hard on her.

I was probably way more offended and concerned, when as an underaged child, she posed for that all-but-porno nude shot.

I actually liked the beat and the vibe of the whole thing.

And, I kind of see it as Miley, INSTEAD of trying to over-reach and be more mature and talented than she actually is, relaxing and regressing and being, well, more like a teenaged girl. In going from pre-teen Hannah Montana into what she thought she should be as a more mature adult celebrity/star... I think she feels maybe she missed out... It is like, with the teddy-bear crap, and the whole 'attitude' thing... That is what I am seeing. The immaturity... Okay, yes she IS 20 now... but.... I almost see is as a bit of a "NO, I do not have to be a mature adult in all ways... I am just going to be young-and-stoopid!!!! And have some attitude and fun." I see some real TEEN rebellion going on with it.... (and look at her current position with her dad/parents, and the whole not-getting-serious/married with Liam, stuff that she is going thru......

Even look at the stupid little pony-tails....
This is not her trying to be be 'adult'. I almost see it as quite the opposite.

While she is portraying a horrid role model for girls, I can see it really appealing to a lot of teens.
And, no doubt, she is taking this all the way to the bank.

Anyhow, I guess there is, and has been, a LOT more out there that would make me go .

It would help if the girl could actually dance. There are plenty of singers that dance and dance provocatively but they CAN dance. She can't. Twerking is a stupid way to dance anyway and it takes having a few more curves than she does to pull it off without looking ridiculous.

And while Lady Ga Ga and Madonna and Cher ALL did things to shock, the talent was there to back it up. Miley is lacking that level of talent. And even they stopped at the point of looking skanky. Miley doesn't seem to know that stopping point and she crosses a line into being a joke.

I think that with people like Madonna, Cher and Lady GaGa's performances were done with confidence and to a large extent maturity. Their performances are ment to be sexual, but not skanky. Miley's performance just looked immature and skanky.
