Anyone stayed at a villa at Vizcay? If so what did you think of the location?:)

Never stayed there but it's too far south in my opinion.

We stay at Doral Woods, looks like a similar drive - takes us 25 mins to Disney as a general rule, 15 to Seaworld, 20 to Universal :goodvibes: \ok, a bit of a drive, but we like it as it's not a 'touristy' community - most of the villas are residential as opposed to rental, so it's generally much quieter and better kept. They're also reallllly strict on cleanliness rules etc as a result, so the villa is always immaculate and the area just fantastic.

Fair enough. It can be a difficult decision when you see a nice villa that may be further away.
Some of the homes on the south end of the US27 for example, such as Calabay Parc are really nice.
I still prefer just off the 192 but everyone has different preferences.

For me 25 minutes to the parks is too long, when it's around 10 from some of the Kissimmee located villas.

We stayed in one last year. The estate was nothing special - no communal activities or anything but the villa we had was fantastic - 5 bedrooms, pool, spa and games room - for a fantastic price. We didn't mind being that far down because it was just off the I4 and it meant we didn't have to go down the 192 with all the stopping and starting at the traffic lights but as everyone has said everyone has different opinions of where the best place is to stop. We stayed at Orange Tree this year. We loved this location too.

There are so many villas to choose from. I love the freedom of a villa but like to be near Disney. I would stay at the GF the whole time but the room is just too small when traveling with kids :)

Why don't you do both?

Next April we stay at the Polynesian for a few nights and then the remainder in a private villa.
Some of the rooms are larger, and at DVC resorts you can get spacious 1 or 2 bedroomed villa accomodation.

We are moving around quite a lot this trip, first night at the pop then off to AKL as DS loves animals then its the villa and spending the last few nights at the GF. I must be mad moving around so much with a three year old and 10 month old :) At least this way everyone gets what they want.

Is this your first stay at the Poly? I really enjoyed Ohanas there last trip :)

Yes it is, only our second stay on site overall.

Moving around too much doesn't suit Joshua as he likes 'home comforts' of a villa, but having stayed purely at villas so many times now we feel for a few nights we want to stay somewhere else.
I know what you mean though about chopping and changing, I like the idea of our split stay but wouldn't want to push it too much as unpacking/packing every few days would be a pain and he would hate that.

We like the look of the Polynesian and the pool/beach area should be good for Josh too, a character breakfast plus making the most of the close proximity to Magic Kingdom also played a part in our decision.
The dining/shopping at the hotel also looks appealing, and obviously we have the Grand Floridian closeby too, be nice to have a look around there.

Love staying in a villa, so many advantages but as a contast would like restaurants, a bar and to be able to socialise for a few nights hopefully this gives a good balance for us, and have the feeling it could be the way to go for us in future.
Summer holidays are out as it's too hot for Julie and Josh, hopefully we can go at Easter time from next year onwards.

Have you booked a villa yet?

Yes have booked the villa at Indian creek, I really like the location and the villa looks pretty smart too.

You really have to go with what's best for the kiddies don't you, I hope Josh enjoys his stay at the poly, the staff there are really lovely and helpful. I love the monorail resorts, and so does DS he would just ride the monorail the whole trip :)

To be honest I never thought I would stay at AKL again as I was not impressed when we stayed there in 2006 but Matthew want to see the animals so we thought we would give it another try. The GF is by far my favorite I think it's because I stayed here when I got married.

I dread the packing and unpacking but I have told DH we will take very little and buy most out there, there is nothing like Florida shopping :thumbsup2

Have you decided which character meal you will be going to? The weather at easter will be lovely, I can't cope with the heat in the summer months either

We are definitely going to book Ohana Character Breakfast, it's the obvious choice really as we are staying at Polynesian.
To be honest we will have a think about others, Joshua isn't a great fan of eating out so we may need to look carefully.
Chef Mickey's is convenient too so we may try there.
Both of these we don't have to take the car so that's an advantage.

Easter should be ideal yes, hot but not too hot. :)

O'hanas looks great for breakfast I have still to try there. I love chef mickeys and 1900 park fare, but as you say it depends how the kids are.

They do an easter egg hunt event at the GF, but it does look as though it gets crowded, there are pics on the resort thread :)
