Do they do viynalmation figure trading at DL??? If so where do they do this and what are the rules for it? Thanks!

yes! many of the stores have places where you can tried just look right by the cashier and they should have a small clear box with 3 vinyls that you can trade for, some even have the black blind box

i know the emporium has them at multiple cash registers, the stores by the shooting range in frontier land. the vinylmation store in new orleans square. d-street in downtown disney. greetings from california in DCA

That is good to know. I am going to be buying a ton of these at WDW in October and figure I will probably have some doubles. Then if we can get to DL in December I can trade them!

Just to add on to the PP's information, you can trade with both the blind box (mystery box with 24-doors) and the visible box (three options). The two boxes are often not in the same place in the store, nor are all the visible boxes at registers or at the same register between days. For example, at Star Traders, the blind box was back in the Star Wars room, whereas the visible box was at the entrance.

Also, you cannot offer/trade a vinylmation that is already in the visible box.

For the blind box, I got conflicting information from cast members, so you might want to ask what their policy is before trading. One cast member said you must take the vinylmation they reveal, while two others said you can choose to cancel the trade once you've seen it.

You are only allowed to trade once per day from each box (i.e., only once per day with the Star Traders blind box and once per day from the visible box), but you can trade at multiple stores in the same day (i.e., Star Traders, D-Street, etc.).

A couple of weeks ago, I saw the blind box at Star Traders in DL, the Annimation Palette in DCA, D-Street, and the Tower of Terror gift store in DCA. There are supposed to be many others, but I wasn't looking that hard.

I was told that if the store is selling Vinylmations, then there is a visible trading box somewhere in the store.

So you can actually see three options to trade with? It wouldn't be a surprise? That would be nice if I'm looking for a specific one. (I really want the Epcot one!)

Yes - it is really nice if you're looking for a specific one or like to know what you're getting.

I saw on the Disney Parks Blog (when they rolled out trading) that the recommendation was to trade first with the blind box (because you don't know what you're getting), then with the visible box in case you didn't like the blind box vinylmation.

Good luck getting the one you want! :)

Ohh! You can do both right away at the same time like that?? Nice.

On a side note, the 3 dolls in the open trading box did not come with the matching doll cards. Not sure about the blind box as we did not try that option.

Here is the link to the blog post on the Disney Parks Blog about the vinylmation trading.

In the first comment, Steve Miller (the blog post's author) answered a question about frequency and provided the suggestion to do the blind box first.

Thanks! i'll check that out.

Really? That stinks!

some of the vinylmation i trade through the clear box did come with the card and if i happen to have the card with me(like if i just bought it) i give the card to them to put with the vinylmation

I think it depends whether the person who traded it actually handed over the card with the vinylmation 'doll' - we always did (if it was from one we'd bought or where we had been given the card) but we were never asked to.

We traded a few times and sometimes the card was there, sometimes not.

And I would second the pp about different cast members applying the rules about the mystery box differently - my daughter had mystery traded a couple of times and been given the option of accepting the trade or keeping the vinylmation she already had both times. We (mum and dad) had also been allowed to choose a number each to see whether we got one she liked instead. Then we did it again one time in Star Traders, and the CM literally took the vinylmation out of dd's hand before she went to the mystery box and when the trade came out as one dd didn't like, the CM would not give back her original one. We tried explaining that we'd been told you could choose whether you wanted to trade once you had seen the vinylmation that came out (we'd never bought any vinylmation before this trip so we genuinely thought that was how it worked as it always had previously!), but she wouldn't give in and let dd have her original one back. Unfortunately we didn't think to ask whether we could choose a number (and choose the same number as dd so we could get hers back for her), the CM was so horrible it threw us! And there were people waiting in line behind us so it was all a bit rushed.

Anyway about 20 minutes later we passed by the store again and a different CM was working at that counter so we asked to try the mystery trade again (there was no box of 3 in the store that day for some reason). This CM let dd choose a number, showed her the trader THEN asked her whether she wanted it or not. Then she asked us whether we wanted to try a number as well and dd ended up with a vinylmation she really liked so it all worked out ok in the end .... but it really does depend on who you get!

yeah when ever i traded through the blind box it was always "final sale" but ive only done it like twice and each time i liked what i got, so i dont know if they would have let me have mine back.

but you really have to check to clear boxes to, i have picked up a chaser from them! i dont think the person who traded it realized it was a chaser or something. but i was thrilled!

On our upcoming trip, I plan on buying 2 or 3 from park series 4.

I like a lot from that series but there are few I do NOT want (the colonel, disney cruiseline, spectromickey.) So if I get those, I definitely want to trade.

What's a chaser?

I would almost say that maybe this is something peculiar to Star Traders because that's the same place that I had that happen, except that you had a different experience the second time.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you in the end.

What's a chaser?

A chaser is the twelfth vinylmation that are supposed to be a secret. Each series has had twelve dolls, but you are only supposed to know what eleven of them look like (usually shown on the box in a picture). The last one is mystery - though if you look at each series on Disney's Vinylmation website they show what the chaster looks like. You have the same chance of getting a chaser as any of the regular eleven when you buy a new vinylmation still in the box.

you actually dont have the same chance of getting a chaser as the rest. each box is filled with 24 vinylmation out of those 24 there are 2 of each pair, except the chaser(one style actually has 3 in the box, those are called the fillers) so in everybox of 24 there is only one chaser. making it really rare to get.

Ah, that makes sense about the chaser and why they'd be special. So you have a 1/24 chance of getting a chaser and a 1/12 chance of getting any of the other designs.
